i spent 180 eur on 64GB of RAM in my Framework and the same kit is over 900 now it's ridiculous 😬

A goblet on the end of a metal punty rod. The goblet is a mix of two types of cane pattern, with a tall cup section that leads into a ball made of the same pattern and a deep foot.
Goblets are peak "glassblowing for glassblowers" in that they're entirely pointless but are a really fun way to challenge yourself.
I haven't made any in the hotshop since September, but had a great time making this full cane goblet and now i might spend some time making more 😂 #glassart
A lot of us also started adopting Go more seriously at the same time bc of the deployment story - and bc it made reasonable enough tradeoffs for most of the other bits.
Finishing the thought after meetings - at least from conversations with other folks at the time, a lot of other folks were going through the same thing (from various other language monoliths to distributed computing becoming a bit more normal after the uservice hype cycle chilled a little)
It was a function of good timing too - we adopted it super early at CircleCI bc it dropped as we were starting to decouple the clojure monolith - and weak API guarantees when you’re already writing a language that goes to such efforts to pretend there isn’t a type system underneath…
I did a stone working class last year and it was so very weird to just grind things away for two weeks
I bus boarded a sold out a350 flight not that long ago and it was hellish
It’ll be out of the annealer on Saturday (hopefully still in one piece 😅)
Starring me, after 5 hours of continuous labor in front of a 1300c oven, because this shit is hard 😅
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly.
Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible. #glassart
can confirm (this is my default state and i hate it)
Good luck! 💜
the blade sliced off all my fingers when i tried to move it. There were too many anchors holding it down.
the problem with owning a 3d printer is that whenever I'm using it, I end up wishing I had ~3 3D printers because I'm impatient and there's always too many things to print at once.
lmao what
for most people's threat model, it's probably still better than an entirely unencrypted disk (and if your threat model actively includes governments with physical access to a device... you hopefully weren't relying on bitlocker)
That plus iOS built-in translation - it has a local-only-data-doesn’t-leave-the-device offline mode that works-ish
The Go team have been on fire lately.
Basically every release lately has dealt with like... actual problems I run into on a regular basis. Once again excited for a language release when 1.26 drops.
Reading the news is so weird this year bc I can never quite tell if I’m somewhat having a fever dream nightmare or if the world really is this fucked 🙃
Someone I know is there and I am tempted to message them 😂
this talk from 39C3 is utterly wild and appalling: youtu.be/fM5w7bFNvWI
turns out a whoooole lot of stuff is just blasted across the entire continent in the clear by GEO satellites
stuff like… gogo & panasonic inflight wifi, LTE backhaul for more-remote towers, and a lot of gov/mil stuff
A glass sits on a wooden table. In the background is a lamp with a print of a bicycle. The glass has a pattern of chaotic white lines, and is partially filled with a deep amber liquid.
I made myself some glasses in December, finally using them for their original purpose (a nice Balvenie 21 port wood)
looks like i am... in fact going after all
Trying to decide if i'm gonna go to #FOSDEM this year, because a bunch of my usual crowd... isn't - but I wanna make it to the Swift community day...
Who do I know who's going? 😅
... now i'm thinking about doing this too if I can swing tickets to either
Bambu also let you shove activated carbon filters inside the enclosure (eu.store.bambulab.com/products/air...)
I have the P1S - it’s zero bullshit and was pretty cheap on sale. I think the P2S is the current equivalent.
Why is AGDQ doing a primary school level physics explanation of potential energy (and getting D and 9V batteries confused? 🙈 )
I find myself very much missing the existence of the iPod Touch this week.
It was the perfect device for "I don't want an actual work phone, but I do want a device that I can enroll in MDM to have access to my calendar on the go".
I made my blog easier to write for, and I've been noodling on a personal project, so figured I'd blog about it as I go - I'm building yet another orchestration tool, and the first part of the design is up - danielle.fyi/posts/orches...
