Okay, I see what you were saying. :) I understood that from the outset, it just doesn't work for me.
Also, maybe I'm wrong, but I think the path often goes "I'm the only one with true interiority and therefore I'm superior to others." The solipsism precipitates the feeling of moral superiority.

I see that, but I also wanted to express why I don't buy into the idea that they see others as just like they are

That's why most true solipsists believe "I have an interior voice" and "Other people are not the same as me." That solves the contradiction more easily than denying one's own interiority

I think the ultimate, and irreconcilable, difference between us is that you believe in the existence of people without interior voices, and I don't.

I agree with you that solipsism is an inherently privileged philosophy, but not necessarily that the examples would convincingly contradict solipsism. Descartes' own conclusion doubted the existence of his own body, and solipsism starts from that mind-body distinction.

Doubt of the existence (as interiority) of other people doesn't doubt their impact on one's life. A doctor who controls your healthcare and a police officer who treats you with brutality don't contradict the unfalsifiable conclusion that those people act without interior existence.

I said "I don't think 'I think, therefore I am' inherently expresses doubts other people exist."
Inherently carries the weight of that sentence, just like we can use the now-tired internet joke to say "I like pancakes" doesn't inherently mean "I hate waffles". That requires poor extrapolation

I think Cartesian dualism created a lot of problems in how we think about the world, but I don't think "I think, therefore I am" inherently expresses doubts other people exist. Descartes, and dualism itself, opposed solipsism as a conclusion.

This just sounds like what they do to other people. You're calling them p-zombies, or NPCs, and denying them interiority. That doesn't work for me as an explanation

Also, I came out of that research with a commitment to always remember that I talk to other people on the Internet, not objects, and I should treat them accordingly. It surprised me how often other people fail to see that or understand it.

I did my early Master's work on online communication, and a lot of the work I saw at the time suggested people interacted with others online like objects rather than people. I think we can logically follow that to the end where people attribute human-like consciousness to chatbots.

In every era, you'll find people who view others through the predominant technological metaphor of their time, and the worst among them forget the metaphor and simply view other humans as equivalent to the predominant technology of their time.

"I think the LLM is conscious" makes a lot more sense when you realize a lot of people don't grasp the interiority of other people.
If you view other people as a series of inputs and utilities, it makes a lot of sense that you would see inert code awaiting your prompt as conscious.
