Some of the colonists probably. The literal Pilgrims not so much.
Do a summer course at Oxford in British political philosophy and statemenship and you, too, can learn about how bloody weird they all are. Many of them moralizing at length about coffee and cafes is just a taste.
I want to be clear that Edmund Burke has been moralizing about coffee since before he died.
NDP members be sure to cast your leadership vote! If you haven't gotten your information packet or email yet, it's time to follow up!
Yes I did do that alt text in highly abbreviated MARC format because I quit fuckin around with citation styles for monographs once I had to learn MARC in my MLIS and have never gone back.
If I have to do formal citation I'm a Chicago girl but it basically never comes up.
A stack of books. The Rule Book / Stenros & Montola (game design); 52 Ways to Reconcile / Robertson (landback etc); A Natural History of Empty Lots / Brown AND Kew's Gardener's Companion to Medicinal Plants (naturalism/botany); Folklore / Davies & Holbrook (like it says on the tin). Topped by a box of cat-themed correspondence cards designed by Stasia Burrington.
Really loving the representative sample of topics in my currently reading non-fic pile.
Don't talk to me about how I keep several books going at once. I don't know. My kid's active pile fills her bookshelf.
There will be a day when the world wakes up and this is over.
Strongly suspect that as this war and its negative effects escalate, we're gonna see a massive increase in disinfo and unsourced "news" - starting right the hell now.
PLEASE don't share "breaking" news from rando or disreputable accounts who provide no links.
Every spring we engage in a symbolic ritual in which we allow the evening to steal an hour from the sunrise, as if it were only lent throughout the winter and not hard-earned, because we live under a Protestant geriarchy.
SEX AND THE LACK THEREOF ARE MORALLY NEUTRAL AND IT'S NOT BETTER TO JUST REDIRECT THE MORALIZATION!
Thanks, choir, for your attention while I screamed into the void.
I, on the contrary, will fight FIERCELY for that hour every morning until the sun starts coming up before my alarm again. Kicking and screaming.
This is the only way. Permanent resynchronization of timezones on 1 Jan 2028 or whatever.
And in any case it's "finding the coal" by ruminating endlessly that ends up being disordered.
That's a very different kind of coal than the one I'm describing, unfortunately.
SEVERAL strong contenders here, thanks so much!
One of the most powerful things I've read in years, and a real dropping of the scales moment for something vile that has been insidiously poisoning everything for decades

Seriously try to guess you'll be wrong.
You're right I did not guess correctly.
I know that name but nothing else. Will look into it, thanks!
This premise is...very cool actually. Would read this story.
I can frame separately, although if you do framing awesome. You must be able to ship from Canada.
BEST CASE I'd love a fun illustrative take on native plants and/or wildlife of Southern Ontario. I am willing to commission or pay more than usual print rates to the right artist with the above pricing caveat.
I'm looking for something very specific and hoping the #bsnm has some leads! I need a piece of art (pricewise I'm in framed print territory) 24-30" wide. I'm hoping for botanical illustration; it can be creative illustration but I would like the botanicals to be representative of reality.
My most disordered thought pattern is that there's a little hot coal of knowledge hidden somewhere in my Self and that if I can simply locate and douse that coal then the fact that any negative feeling totally overwhelms me will end and I'll be able to respond to feelings like a normal person.
Allowing laws to dictate your entire system of morality is never a good look.
Cooper's Hawks have returned to my neighborhood. The snow is melting under a warm front and heavy rain and I've discovered that the sundrop rosettes are out and the early bulbs have full greenery and a couple of little flower stalks. It's coming.
Regardless I have informed the owners of said cats of the new friend in the hunting grounds and hope they will respond accordingly.
Two sets of animal tracks in the snow. On the right, degraded, a set from a domestic cat. On the left, fresh, an unidentified canine with a calm gait pattern.
I keep finding these canine tracks walking leisurely the secret path through the strawberry patch behind my house. Same path the neighborhood outdoor cats like, but never at the same time.
Best guess is a coyote, or a domestic dog loose in the neighborhood for over a month that I haven't seen.
lololol sounds about right
