One of the most embarrassing moments in the recent history of the world's coolest little capital (aside from every time we call ourselves that) was the turnout for the opening of Transmission Gully, a fucking road. Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui (re)opens this weekend. We can erase this historical stain.
Peace Action Wellington is calling a peace vigil on Monday, 2 March at 5:30pm meeting at the Cenotaph on the corner of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street. All people who oppose war are welcome.
One of the things this issue has exposed is how many NZers believe in collective punishment. Someone harrassed them on the street once and now they want other people detained for sleeping.
Yeah I don't know why council does that. I recommend the organisers contact the regular activist groups, such as PAFC or Peace Action Wellington, for free legal and traffic advice.
It really doesn't. None of the other vigils or protests outside the US embassy have had permits.
Is this true???? I thought it was one of those wacky myths, like Americans calling chips "freedom fries".
I would like Merzbow to perform at the same time and place as the remaining writers.
I'm surprised by the number of people who claim to be "intimidated" by people sleeping.
Bin the ban.
Cute doggo!

Conversation in workroom about whether Elizabeth Knox works across genres, transcends genres, or demolishes genres.
I realise this sounds like a fever dream, but we just stopped at a pub in the middle of nowhere and the house band is Upper Hutt Posse featuring Jeff Henderson
Not sure if they realise you can just turn up to the meetings to decide what to do. There's no union bosses forcing "crafternoons" on workers.
"I knew that someday, years or perhaps decades down the line, when half of Gaza was still rubble and the other half Israeli skyscrapers, the magazine would offer a mea culpa. Maybe someone involved would end up considering it the biggest mistake of their career."
In other news, up at dawn for the tΕhi tΔngaengae for our beautiful brought back to life central library Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui. You are going to love it! In front of the amazing Darcy Nicholas rawa, with some of my fave colleagues Laurie Foon, John Apanowicz and @geordierogers.co.nz

Made me wonder about the Dardenne brothers' health and safety policies.
What an unusually happy ending though. Are the Dardenne brothers getting soft

Aotearoa - A variety of ropΕ« are behind this #GrantTheVisas campaign, which is urgently calling on the Government to grant emergency humanitarian visas to Palestinians in Gaza who have family ties to NZ.
They have heaps of resources to get on board here: grantthevisas.com
First time I've been part of an entire movie audience singing a waiata. (the Jafar Panahi film at #nziff)
Don't get depressed by the bigots and the govt that panders to them.
You got an ISBN?
This must be the 99th documentary about her. What is with kids going to film school and coming out thinking "Is this Nazi a Nazi" is a worthwhile topic.
This was one of my highlights too. You can see it for free on Beamafilm
