Expressionistic landscape scene in progress, in which the foreground is cast in bright red-orange tones with dark shadows: an outdoor scene framed by massive bright red-orange treetrunks on the left and right, between which two bright red silhouetted figures appear to be running across the page from right to left: a humanoid carrying a long thin object in one hand and following close behind, a smaller creature approximately the size of a medium to large dog but appearing to have the wings and antennae of an insect. The background is largely unfinished, a flat green expanse in the lower distance, stretching away and framed on the left and right by surreal blue mountains that also shrink into the distance. The sky has not yet been painted.

Portrait oriented canvas covered in rust colored wet oil paint, brushed thinly onto the canvas and then scraped with a palette knife into long undulating vertical upward strokes. Pallet knife strokes of various sizes overlap and interweave, creating the illusion of a tangle of red hair, the striations of muscle tissue, bark or roots, flowing fabric, or flames.

View of the New River from above in February. The mountainsides of the gorge are brown and leafless but light accents of snow and ice on the branches create some texture and a medium for catching some of the pink light of the setting sun. The sky and water are blue-grey but a thin strawberry lemonade strip of light hovers above the horizon line and provides a glowing backdrop for some low grey streaks of cloud.
