It's an outrage. The Presidential pardon should only be used when there's a miscarriage of justice. The President should have to explain how they heard about the case & how it offends justice or the legal system. Then Congress can approve (or not) the pardon. It should all be public.

Basically, Proton, like other companies, is bound by the laws of the country where they operate. In this case, they had no data to give except payment info. However, you can pay them in ways that can't be used to violate your privacy. So 🤷

The title of this article is misleading in that it suggests Proton isn't a viable provider if you're looking for privacy-focused email. Because it's paywalled, I can't read the entire thing, so I don't know if they printed any comment from Proton about it. Proton commented at Reddit (see next post).
