Stoked to watch this challenge!
I listened to a Vergecast episode talking about party speakers on my walk this morning, and now Iβm seeing them everywhere and getting ads for them. π
Anybody else doing their coding on Linux? I recently converted an older Mac Mini into a Fedora Linux desktop, and I love using it! I find myself far more productive on it than my MacBook.
My job uses a web based phone system that only accepts number digits and does not accept ( ), -, . or spaces. I made a proof of concept web app to automatically remove everything but the digits from phone numbers, and allows you to copy to clipboard. A totally unnecessary but fun side quest.
A rubber duck Apple Watch Charger on a desk.
After debugging, Iβm back to working on my projects and catching up on #100devs classes. Iβm hoping to return to the Commit Your Code conference this Septemberβfurther along in my journey than I was last year!
Over the past several months, Iβve been working to shift my mindsetβfocusing less on outcomes and more on enjoying the process of learning, problem-solving, building, and, yes, even failing my way into a software development career. Iβm more determined and disciplined than ever to make this happen.
Iβve stumbled, failed, and strayed from many pathsβstarting, stopping, and restarting over and over. Iβve made commitments I couldnβt keep and come close to so many finish lines, yet never crossed them. For years, I called myself a failureβand that mindset is still my greatest struggle today.
Letβs go!
Solid day:
Had an awesome coffee chat this morning and could have easily talked for a lot longer!
Found a Texas Longhorns baseball hat for my son's birthday.
Finished up the 100 Devs Appwrite stream. Going to play around with it some more tonight.
Yep! I was there. Pretty sure I was in a Leon pic on the last day
Iβm catching up on Ryanβs podcast and listening to your interview now!
Most productive day so far this year:
- attended the Dadsin Tech meetup hosted by @tdesseyn.bsky.social
- had lunch with a dev I met at CYC who was in town
- got some hands on with Appwrite by watching @leonnoel.bsky.socialβs recent Twitch stream
Today was a reminder that I love this community!
Likewise! Glad we are back at it
Iβm back! Sorry to have disappeared. Itβs been a busy start to the year after I took on a second job to help some friends and their small business. Itβs starting to wind down and Iβm eager to get back into code this week.
My guy
Iβll be working the next 3 days so Iβm challenging myself to get up earlier to get in at least an hour of coding before logging in for my shift. Today I was learning about hamburger menu styles that I can use on my upcoming portfolio site.
Using this great site for svg icons.

Had an awesome virtual coffee chat with @dallaslove.bsky.social. We scheduled 30 mins for it but ended up talking for an hour! We chatted about #100devs, conferences/meetups, communicating a career change to family, projects, and, of course, coffee.
Just listened to the latest episode. This podcast deserves all the praise and recognition it gets! @leonnoel.bsky.social @dthompsondev.bsky.social

Sounds good. Looking forward to it!
I am also now set up on cal.com/samlegge.dev. This one is a nice open source platform.

Hey #100devs peeps, since yesterday I've had several people reach out to set up a virtual coffee chat with me. I am excited to have this opportunity to talk with and learn about other devs on their journey. Please reach out if you are interested in setting up a coffee chat!
I love to see it! Your talk was awesome and full of energy. I heard every dev I chatted with mentioning it. Looking forward to seeing what next year holds for you!
Definitely watching next week
Exactly what @vishalicious213.bsky.social said. It will come with repetition. It won't look pretty at the beginning but that's okay. "Get a win on the board" - Leon.
Hey #100devs friends, it is a privilege to be able to attend a conference in person. In Leon's huddle today, doing a virtual meetup/coffee chat was brought up. If you want to connect with me to do something virtual, you're welcome to send me a message. I'm happy to chat about what you're working on.
Haha. Yep! Years of cycling gave me some dramatic contrasting tan lines.
My computer monitor showing VS Code and Scrimba
Solid Sunday. Rested up this morning, restocked my coffee and bagels, and got some dev time with @scrimba and some project planning for 2025.
