This is clearly a frequent problem, making even the simple matter of staying in a hotel room a dangerous situation for women. And, of course, it is unsettling to think so many men consider rape worth doing, no doubt due to the low conviction rates.
The refund is a particular kick in the teeth, as it sounds insensitive. But, since I tried going to the BBC news app to find the specific story, expecting it to be the top story. What horrifies me is just how many “rape in hotel room” stories come up.
