Waters Upton One-Place Study
A One-Place Study of the parish of Waters Upton in Shropshire, England
My #OnePlaceWednesday update. Still waiting for the last 6 of the wills ordered last year for 2 of my #OnePlaceStudies (3 each for Fawsley & Waters Upton). Following Ancestry’s addition of #Shropshire electoral registers I’ve been busy transcribing, and adding new pages to my Waters Upton website.

The Monarch Song | Horrible Histories | CBBC
YouTube video by CBBC
The six-year-old has informed me that they were learning about kings and queens yesterday and there was a song.
A song, I asked?
Inevitably, some of @gregjenner.bsky.social's best (and certainly catchiest), work.

I’ve just had a spooky moment with some 1891 Census records. Pleased to see some clear, well-formed handwriting for a change, it suddenly dawned on me that I’d seen this hand before. I checked the first page of the section and there it was: Mr H’s GGF was the enumerator! #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

Thrilled to unexpectedly hear someone tell the story of my very likely relative, Jeremiah Newell in a talk, who was said to haunt Potters Lane, Ely. I told them later about him 👻 #FamilyHistory #ancestryhour

Same. We’ll never fix all the trees out there, so I focus on making mine the best I can, with plenty of citations.

I have two properly documented 4C1R who are attending #RootsTech. Almost all the other suggested connections are based on errors in the big tree.

Most of mine are useless to me bc they are through my great-grandmother’s adoptive parents and not her birth family. It’s a big reason I find FamilySearch’s tree so frustrating to deal with. I have the same issue with my paternal grandmother whose bio-dad I indentified.

4C1R is my closest too Of my 298 many are 'imaginative' at best. The split between my grandparents is v uneven 8 157 1 156 which doesn't add up to the total!!!🤷♀️

Yes, I’ve seen a lot are via the first husband of my 2x Gt Grandmother. The husband *might* have been my 2x Gt Grandfather, but I have no evidence yet. Also, a bit of spot checking last night found some incorrect 3x Gt Grandparents.
It’s fun, but not necessary fact

I’ve been transcribing the 1841 census for my #oneplacestudy of Haverfordwest in Wales. Looking at Barn Street in St. Martin’s Parish where my 3x great grandmother Mary Taylor lived. #oneplacewednesday @oneplacestudies.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/haverfor...
