Hey, neighbour!

We’re counting down the days until the citywide rezoning public hearing on March 23, but you may not know that the deadline to submit public comments is March 16. To have your comments entered into the corporate record without having to speak before Council, please ensure your written submission is received by City Clerks on Monday, March 16 at the latest.

I want to hear from all the neighbours in Ward 4, and this is the best to make sure that myself and the other members of council get to read what your thoughts are on citywide rezoning at the same time.

You can submit your comments via the City of Calgary website at https://www.calgary.ca/council/meetings/public-hearing.html.

Thank you, @rheisman.bsky.social, for including the experience of the researchers. Our hearts go out to them. As collision monitors, we all see way too much death. Good to see similar trauma acknowledged.

Thanks too for providing hope that the colony has survivors and may see better days. 💕

Super common species to die at windows. If someone needs inspiration to mark their glass (EFFECTIVELY) then this wee lad should be considered!

Fabulous photo!!

On Feb. 25, outfitter Kelly Udell pleaded guilty in the Fairview Court of Justice to knowingly hunting mule deer in a Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) not authorized by his licence.
Udell was fined $7,800. The court acknowledged his early guilty plea, lack of prior offences, and the fact that a deer had not been killed when the violation was identified.
On Nov. 22, fish and wildlife officers uncovered the offence during a compliance check in WMU 526. The mule deer licence he obtained for his hunting client was only valid in WMU 525, approximately 48 km away.
Udell initially claimed the issue was a vendor error, but that was proven false through security footage and verification with the retailer. As an experienced outfitter with allocations in both zones since 2014, Udell admitted he knowingly took a “calculated risk” in guiding his client without a licence authorized for WMU 526.
This type of offence, commonly known as “zone jumping,” undermines wildlife management and can place hunting clients at risk of criminal charges.
Anyone with information about wildlife or fishery violations is encouraged to call the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800, or online at alberta.ca/report-poacher.aspx.

Are there recent updates on what is happening on the ground in Tehran after the initial strikes? It's gut/wrenching and won't be good news but hoping for some hope on that. Environmental devastation with immediate impact on people and animals. Horrendous.

And pleeeeeease treat your glass especially if inviting them closer with habitat. Everyone needs to marking their glass with an effective product. Hummingbirds are certainly susceptible to window collisions.
