Trump knows prominent right leaning media echo his statements without fact checks and its pundits play along. The left and center are in an information war they are ill-equipped to wage because ethics prevent them from firing beyond the front lines.
The public is sadly unprincipled and would vote for war crimes to stop drugs every time. Trump and the voters who chose him are the “owners” of this. Democrats are a minority party stuck in the room trying to pick battles they can win.

SCOTUS could’ve said IEEPA is broken but instead the court “fixed” it so now Congress has a big uphill climb to claw back its Constitutional power.
And SCOTUS may do a similar thing with independent agencies this year. They were enacted with the understanding that the executive couldn’t interfere. But against the original intent of lawmakers, SCOTUS will let him.
IEEPA was created so that a simple vote in one house could override (the “legislative veto”). SCOTUS effectively stripped that out in 1983. The “severability” of the legislative veto instantly shifted tons of power to the executive branch.
If you view the gender crosstabs on Trump approval polls, you’ll notice why the GOP really would like a law making it inconvenient and expensive for many women to vote.

Sounds like you’re admonishing regular people for being upset about his unprecedentedly ugly behavior. He’s crossed many, many bright red lines before this one and is waging a soft war against “blue cities” (most Americans) in every way he can think of.
We need a pledge for all candidates to sign. “I will not serve an obscure Senate rule. I will serve my people and pass bills they want.”
If it means a bad party gets to do more bad things that hurt people, let voters respond to that. But people put you in power to do stuff and they may even reward you for doing it.
As bad as any bill is, it’s only by accepting permanent minority rule in the Senate that it can do the most damage.
Smash the filibuster. Undo bad ideas. Pass good ones. Help people when you have the power to do it.
States and city business groups need to sue for damages when a city is defamed by “news” orgs. Hard cases to prove but discovery docs around these events would be fascinating.

I might add here that pot consumption seems pretty common here in WV & OH and maybe these folks can be persuaded to see how intentionally abusive enforcement of a federal law can be immoral and wasteful.

Yes, Fox News are biased as hell and the White House full of massive liars, but if an org wants a public reputation of being truly objective NEWS, they need some red lines, and issuing an armchair psychoanalysis should cross one.
