How can we advance #equity in digital #MentalHealth interventions?
Join us on Tuesday, March 3 for a seminar with @gramos.bsky.social, who will explore the state of the science in #DMHIs and share findings for creating more equitable models and expanding access for marginalized groups.
Join us! ‡οΈ
Today I had the honor of presenting some of my work focused on advancing mental health equity for racially and ethnically minoritized youth at the CHLA's Adolescent Medicine Grand Rounds!
I just wish we'd had more time to continue the conversation. Thank you for the invite, Caitlin S. Sayegh, PhD!
βMaybe, I would have been treated better if I had cited some of the editor in chiefβs papers,β Bimonte, of the University of Siena, wrote in boldface in the email, which we have seen. Two days later, an unhappy editor at the journal quit, Retraction Watch has learned.
Incredibly honored that this 2024 review of the state of the science in digital mental health interventions, published in @abctnow.bsky.social's Behavior Therapy is among the most cited papers over the last 3 years!
Thanks to @stephenschueller.bsky.social, Rosa Hernandez-Ramos, and Madison Taylor!

It seems that I have been demoted by Google Scholar π€£ π€·π½ββοΈ
We loved having you @gramos.bsky.social!! Thanks so much for generously sharing your amazing work with us!
Thank YOU for having me!
Last week, I had the privilege to present some of my work at UIUC and its Clinical and Community Psychology Brown Bag seminar. There were fantastic questions, and I had a blast!
Thank you for thinking of me for this, @vjrp.bsky.social! Proud to be a FOP π€
It's #FundingFriday at APF!πΈ Don't miss out on these opportunities to apply for funding for your psychological research. More info at hubs.li/Q03ZHzZ80.
Thanks so much, Aaron. I appreciate you!
Proud and blessed to have Gio as my colleague.
As I told my students (while choking up), I hope they felt represented and proud to be Latinx, that they remember they belong here, and that, as Benito did, they never stop believing in themselves.
Β‘Nosotros somos AmΓ©rica!
Given this social and political climate, I can't begin to explain what Bad Bunny's show meant to a lot of usβa celebration of being Latinx in America
Last class, we talked about the social determinants of mental health: how the political discourse, policies, and implicit government values directly shape the outcomes of Latinxs in this country. Through that lens, my students can understand the current times better
The beauty of teaching a class on Latinx Mental Health right now is that every week, I have the opportunity to give my students something that matters to them. This was one of the slides for my class
Thanks a lot!!
Welp, the joke just lasted a couple of hours. I guess I can celebrate now, maybe? π€·π½ββοΈ π€
Thanks, Gabriel ;)
Sometimes, you just aren't there yet... π€·π½ββοΈ π€£
The @apnews.com recently interviewed me to discuss the impact that Roblox can have on youth's mental health when used to reenact and protest against ICE immigration raids.
My takeaway: It can be a healthy process by which youth build community and obtain social support!

First day of classes, professor edition!
This is the first time I get to teach Latinx Mental Health here at Berkeley, and I am already inspired by my students and their interest in learning more about their communities.
By the way, check the last slide of my lecture. If you know, you know π€
Huge news: Our lab's first Monte Carlo Simulation Registered Reports was recommended by @pci-regreports.bsky.social. Led by the indominable @jessicalfossum.bsky.social! To my knowledge this is the first completed Registered Report of a Monte Carlo Simulation! rr.peercommunityin.org/PCIRegistere...
Congrats!!
This restores my faith in registered reports, if you know what I am talking about π
AI doesnβt just learn dataβit learns our biases. A UC Berkeley researcher is working to ensure machine learning helps improve fairness in criminal justice and health care. news.berkeley.edu/2026/01/20/a...

I say all this as an exercise for myself. It's been incredibly hard to focus on the positive when it feels like you are striking out consistently. I'm not changing the type of work I do. I'm not going anywhere. A chingarle!
I also have an incredible collaboration between industry and academia that will allow me to make mental health services available to groups who would not otherwise receive them. My doctoral students, the next generation of equity researchers, are making steady progress
On a brighter note, I get to teach Latinx Mental Health for the first time here at @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social. In the last two admission cycles, my lab has received, on average, 150 applications each time. I have two R&Rs lined up. I have six invited talks scheduled for this semester.
