Next week's .NET Conf Agenda is π₯ www.dotnetconf.net/agenda. Just schedule my time off.
TIL Copilot Workspace Indexes, which theoretically improve search. Sounds kinda awesome. However, doesn't work for me, just shows "Checking Status" forever. Tried adding local index, but that fails too. Anyone using this feature successfully? code.visualstudio.com/docs/copilot...
Iβm excited to share that the CapArea.NET is hosting an AI Community Roundtable tomorrow night. Itβs a chance to hear whatβs working (and whatβs not) in AI from practitioners across the community. Hope can join in-person or online: www.meetup.com/caparea-net/...
Coworker reminded me of this fantastic 25-year-old article from Joel Spolsky. Article as poignant today as it was then. Just maybe not the bit about floppy disks :). www.joelonsoftware.com/2000/04/06/t...
π’ Speakers & sessions for NOVA Code Camp 2025 are now live! Hoping you can join us Oct 18 in Reston, VA for a full day of learning, networking, and coding energy. Check out all the awesome speakers and sessions and grab your spot now. Attendance is free, but spots are limited: novacodecamp.org
I've started concluding all initial agent mode queries with "Any questions before you begin?". It's been a game changer for quality output. Claude Sonnet 4 in particular asks some *really* good clarifying questions that it would otherwise just guess at.
Mermaid chart rendering! Nicely done `Visual Studio 2022 v17.14 September Update`
If you aren't so familiar with Agent Mode, MCP's, or Copilot Coding Agent, you should come to my talk tonight at Hot Topics, will be fun: www.meetup.com/hot-topics-d...

You mean Cursor? Copilot supports various Claude models, but I've found them to be over-eager. I'm willing to try Cursor. This is for my work project though which is pretty big at 1.4M lines of code and I really do like Visual Studio and my various plugins.
I think I'm finally getting the hang of using CoPilot Agent Mode to do real-world non-prototype coding. Specificity is critical. Now though I'm now struggling with how much detail is too much and whether hand-coding would be less effort. Any opinions?
I am honored to have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP for the 5th year. It's a privilege to be a part of such a vibrant and passionate community. Thank you to everyone who makes this journey so meaningful.
Finally getting around to trying Cursor, but I can't create an account, keep getting this error. Anyone else experienced this issue or have a workaround?
I'm so excited that @consultwithgriff.com is driving up from Virginia Beach to present to the CapArea User Group tonight. If you're in the Northern VA / DC area you should absolutely swing by and say hi: www.meetup.com/caparea-net/...
In case you missed @thesoftwarementor.com 's awesome presentation at CapArea.NET on Type Driven Design a couple of weeks ago it is now live and you should totally check it out: youtu.be/JIf-jVYPZCQ
Hey Kevin, I'm sorry, that was the plan, but it got delayed and we are now planning on doing it in the Fall. Details to follow.
Awesome, ty! The switch to OTel was actually a bit of a transition for me, but I think the documentation has improved significantly
Looking forward to speaking at Hampton Roads .NET Users Group with @consultwithgriff.com tomorrow night. If you're in the Virginia Beach area come on by! www.meetup.com/hampton-road...
Oh dude, this is awesome! Implemented numeric sorting on current project less thoroughly and less efficiently. C# 10 may not be ready, but wish I'd known about github.com/tompazourek/... sooner.
This is one of the best talks, I've watched it 3-4 times and always get something new. tldr "if it's hard to test it's probably a design issue", but check it out, Michael Feathers is awesome vimeo.com/15007792
youtube.com/watch?v=ZTPr... Fascinating! Number of surprises there for me including Pascalβs early popularity, Javaβs precipitous recent decline and C#βs consistency over time.
Started generating e-mails to difficult family members using ChatGPT like "Craft something in the spirit of Dale Carnegie's Win Friends and Influence People". omg, it works beautifully. Also, canvas is awesome.
ICYMI just published @jasonbock.net 's Modern C# CapArea.NET presentation. So many great tips and tricks, even for seasoned C# pro's, highly recommend: youtu.be/_vo_MVcba7g

Not my experience, but Iβve heard others say it and I understand. Whatβs really sad is Iβve run into lot of folks giving up on journalism entirely.
Peer reviewed, quality focused work is as important in PRβs as it is in journalism, thatβs why Iβm a proud Washington Post subscriber.
