πΏ David Attenborough: Kingdom of Plants Part 3
Here is the final instalment of my latest remaster:
Delve into some truly bizarre adaptations as we watch a plant spontaneously combust to beat its rivals and meet the migrating bats who act as desert cactus farmers. π¦π₯
As well as a giant tortoise π’
The official name of the equation is 'The Linear State-Space Equation' but 'Steering' is nice way to understand exactly what it does..
x(t+1) = Ax(t) + Bu(t)
86 Billion Neurons & Only One "YOU"
Scientists have finally unlocked the "Steering Equation" that explains how our brain uses secret shortcuts to link billions of separate cells into one unified mind.
Is this also the math of consciousness? π€

Sorry to those of you who had shared it before my momentary brain freeze ;)
A scientific diagram titled "Penetrating power of Alpha, Beta and Gamma ray through Paper, Aluminium, Lead and Concrete." It shows Alpha rays (helium nuclei) being stopped by an orange sheet of paper. Beta rays (electrons) pass through the paper but are stopped by a grey sheet of aluminium. Gamma rays (high-energy waves) pass through paper and aluminium but are stopped by a dark grey block of lead. Finally, neutrons are shown passing through paper, aluminium, and lead, only to be stopped by a thick, speckled block of concrete.
β’οΈ Every Day's a School Day!
I deleted this img too hastily, thinking "Alpha & Beta Ray" was an error but on checking further..
While they are particles Alpha (Helium Nuclei) and Beta (Electrons) they are called rays when moving as a beam of radiation! The diagram was correct. We never stop learning!
Visualising Radiation β’οΈ
Uranium-238 decay in a cloud chamber. Spot the radiation by the trails:
β’ Thick, straight tracks are Alpha particles, while
β’ Thin, erratic ones are Beta particles.
Gamma rays are also emitted but rarely interact with the vapour, so they usually remain invisible. #Physics
Yeah for sure, I think even AI slop would be would struggle to create something that looks so awesome though π
Yes, itβs totally for real, rare but real for sure and I also agree, this should be compulsory viewing for all kids as an intro to science π
Meet the Solar Powered Sea Slug, Costasiella kuroshimae aka The Leaf Sheep ππΏ
It's a super rare animal that utilises photosynthesis via kleptoplasty.
By absorbing chloroplasts from its food, it creates its own energy from light. An amazing creature that blurs the line between animal and plant! π±π

JAXA's (Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency) Kaguya captured this 2007 HD Earthrise using NHK cameras.
On the Moon, Earth stays still because of tidal locking.
This "rise" is actually the probe's 1.5km/s orbital speed at 100km altitude.
A surreal view of our home from the stark lunar surface π
A square graphic on a dark teal background with DNA and molecular structures. The top features a quote in bold white text: "Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated." Below are two black and white images: a portrait of Rosalind Franklin and "Photograph 51," the 1952 X-ray diffraction pattern that proved the double helix structure. Franklinβs meticulous work at Kingβs College London was vital to this discovery, though she was never awarded the Nobel Prize.
Photograph 51 is the X-ray that proved the double helix and is arguably the most important image in biology! 𧬠Taken in 1952 at Kingβs College London.
This Rosalind Franklin quote is my favourite of all time. With the worrying rise of science denial, her words are more important today then ever:

Sir David Attenborough: Kingdom of Plants πͺ·π΄
Filmed at Kew Gardens, this hidden gem of a documentary uses pioneering time-lapse photography to reveal the aggressive battles of the plant world. Plants are not as passive as they seem. πΊπ¦
Enjoy!
For sure, I hear you there totally... I can still watch the original for nostalgia's sake and enjoy it immensely, but most new audiences tend to expect the fresher look to even hint at being interested.
If you look on the left side of the image showing the before, you can see clearly that it was degraded with lots of noise and artifacts. Also the 4k means that it is viewable on larger screens and TV's which we didn't have back then.
It's scary how deep science's denial has spread its roots into the government :(
Middle and High schools need to prioritize teaching how these models work and building AI literacy rather than just letting students use them to bypass the actual learning process.
Agreed... The primary source is discussing its use in higher education where the basics should already be well established. But I hear you, because the risk to middle schoolers is very real. We shouldn't automate something that we haven't learned to ourselves first.
I've noticed a dramatic drop in the skill of critical thinking as well. To embrace and use Ai property, critical thinking is so important to recognize the 10% nonsense it regurgitates.
I hear you, it's never going away again so we need to embrace it, but at the same time ensuring that we know how to use it properly.
New Study Suggests "Postplagiarism" Is Here. π¨
Schools are finally moving from banning AI to "Stewardship."
I analyzed the new study plus my own data: while "Reasoning Engines" like GPT-5 are powerful, they have a dangerous blind spot. Newer isn't always safer. β οΈ
