Legitimately every time some bloodthirsty ghouls start advocating for another cruel and useless war, everyone with a conscience should say no and demand at least this much money be used for social services thanks to the savings.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.
There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.
This is my favorite guide.
Why is Dem leadership not on the ground in MN? If the answer is “polls show Trump’s disapproval is only -15 on deportations, but -25 on prices,” thats a Bad Use Of Polling and a complete failure in their capacity as leaders to lead public opinion and fight for democracy and the rule of law
Think about this. Did you hear trans panic headlines in the 2000s? No.
Conservatives weren’t “worried” about trans people until the day they lost on Marriage Equality.
Once they realized most of us are just fine with gay marriage, they needed a new wedge issue and started attacking trans people.
Hey guess what Chuck Schumer's NYC phone line is wide open
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Here's Diane Keaton at Warren Beatty's AFI tribute, talking about a perfect (no exaggeration) scene in Reds--taking the mystique out of filmmaking and then putting it right back in, in just two minutes. She was exquisite. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_RS...
THE LOWDOWN is a real fuckin pleasure, shot in dusty tans and grays and rich, jewel-bright greens. It's a little bit FARGO, a little bit THE BIG LEBOWSKI. Hawke is great at the head of a frankly unbelievable cast.
If you've done in-person research at any of the following presidential libraries in the last 8 months, can you please follow me/contact me—soon—for a story I'm working on (can be off the record)?
Hoover
FDR
Truman
Eisenhower
JFK
LBJ
Ford
Carter
And either way, can you please share this request? 🙏
I'm sure this has been mentioned but, back in 2003, ABC's first choice for the late-night job was Jon Stewart.
But ABC felt Stewart was too "topical"/political, especially for the network of Roseanne and Home Improvement. So they went with Kimmel. And here we are. www.nytimes.com/2002/11/03/m...

also consider The Flytrap, to which I subscribe and whose founder inspired this thread. Also they are worker-owned and just partnered with National Writers Union on freelancer policies and subs are currently 15% off:

Even assuming an LLM stumbled into a revolutionary scientific discovery, it would only be an untested hypothesis. A lack of hypotheses is not science's problem - it's $$ for the research to test those hypotheses that's sorely needed. And, that's being cut to fund LLMs.
You can read all the retrospectives about Epstein running now. But to really understand the case, go right to the @jkbjournalist.bsky.social series in the @miamiherald.com that ran 7 years ago (and for completely inexplicable reasons, never won a Pulitzer).

It's the #1 show in its time slot / format and its ratings have gone up since Jan
