If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.

I think one of the things that bothers me the most about the way Polymarket presents itself to the world is that it's adopted the language of journalism to make itself sound more legitimate. Like look at this post from yesterday morning incorrectly "projecting" the winner.

The window for all possible negative consequences is limited to 12 hours. Anything that happens after that is just a coincidence.

Dynamic Tooltip Position with Anchor Positioning A tootlip that follows its anchor while adjusting the position of its tail

Has anyone figured a bulletproof way to use anchor positioning w/ a tooltip pointer? @css-only.dev got far¹²³ but these all depend on the tooltip being opaque.

Just got nerd sniped trying to figure this out!

the entire pitch of Cuomo was that sure he's a loathsome sex pest but he has what it takes to stand up to Trump, and then the hot leftist starts every phone call with "what's up big dog" and gets Trump to do whatever he wants.

In 2005, I could go no-contact with my mother in rural Carolina, population 10K, and it would make a big difference. Now, though, there’s a ‘the dose makes the poison’ thing happening-we’re more interconnected than ever, and the negative impact of the accumulation of chronic liars compounds.

I agree! 1-in-1,000 is very common! My mother and my wife’s sister are both truth-by-exception people. I just think upstream of the attentional economy, people were able to a lot more successfully minimize their interactions with chronic liars, and now the social environment is too small.

most people come to know the phrase ‘pathological liar’ growing up, but in the time before near-realtime mass communication, were not forced to endlessly wrestle with someone who truly lied by-default; now, it’s this huge attentional advantage and a 1-in-1,000 behavior is everyone’s problem

if the logic of this piece is correct, every day small businesses etc should have been succeeding for years at creating custom software

they could just hire a developer and TELL the developer what to do, right?

and yet these projects are 97% doomed.

and it’s not bc code is rare and hard.

I think it’s bad-to-inexcusable that BAFTA didn’t speak with them after, and it does a disservice to all involved because the man with Tourette’s is then implicitly carrying the blame for their silence, too. Sucks all around.
