Tonight we're gonna go to a nice little strip-mall bar in the west suburbs of Cleveland, + make it approximately 21.9% cooler to be in.
It's an experiment, of sorts, to find places we can be around folks who like rock n roll but don't often seek new stuff out.

They do, tho'; primarily bc of the Saudi King (Khaled?) being treated at the Cleveland Clinic in the 1970s for his heart condition. Doubtful that made us any more than a 4th-level nuke target, tho.

This attitude is why no one trusts you or your faction to lead anymore. There's a difference between winning votes and 'whipping' them; + you don't have the earned authority to whip them from anyone you want to.

We do, but not that often. Kinda trying not to be a pest who's always doing the "Look at ME!" thing; if that makes sense. I know that's contrary to all "marketing advice", but we're trying to be a lil different, more "normal", if ya dig.

This kind of place can be anyplace where the rent's cheap, and there's half-ass jobs young folks can get and survive (in groups) on. That'll change, of course, once the predators move in; but you can often get at least a decade or two of slack before that happens.

6 or 7 NFL teammates is a fairly substantial number; as NFL team members will often live spread out all over the country in the off-season, living very different lives.

I always liked Mark Lanegan, of Screaming Trees; although their inclusion in 'grunge' points up the dubious nature of the category. They were a fantastic rock n roll band; + Mark's voice added a Doors-like aura that stood out. "Shadow Of The Season" would be my choice pick to show that.

Being "good enough" back then maybe got you into a cover band, where you'd be funneled into trying to sing Zeppelin and Steppenwolf and the Guess Who instead of Leppard or Skid Row or what you wanted to do.
"Classic Rock" is what killed that era of metal, not 'grunge'; grunge was the backlash.

Nothin' from nothin' (as our drummer Grape likes to say), there's a band from Rochester, NY called "Dysplacer" you might really dig, liking the 80's-metal style as much as you do.

At the time, the marginalization of hard rock/glam/metal had more to do with "Classic Rock "( i.e. the 60s-70s stuff) swamping out everything modern on radio + MTV, + new bands were mostly locked out (1988-90).
"Grunge" was seen as rebelling against all of that, so it got traction.

I'm sorry to say, as a dude who was there then, that this is an untrue and unfair characterization of that generation. Lessons don't make a male singer like Bach or Klaus Meine or Joe Elliott, you either have "it" or you don't. Our guy Pipes has some of it, + never had a lesson in his life.

Death growl wasn't, yet; but the thrash/hardcore 'bark' style (a precursor to DMG)was pretty close to mainstream through the 80's, in aggregate. That was a style normal musicians could learn, and crowds could bark along to. Impressive singers are wonderful, but you can't sing along with most of 'em.

Vocal styles like Bach's lost their cultural dominance over hard rock/ heavy metal styles largely bc they were difficult to do; + required inborn high vocal register to even try. Death-metal growl, + Vedder's baritone moan, however, could be taught to an average dude who could carry a tune.

YT already did this, on "Topic" channels for music artists/bands (i.e. the ones CDBaby uploads to when you contract their services for a release). It had that effect on algorithm exposure immediately.
