I think this means weβve started a long war against Trumpβs skin
Jill Filipovic @jillfilipovic.bsky.social Not including this person's handle because I don't want to start a big pile-on but there is such a deep media literacy problem on the left. "The New York Times" is not "supporting" any of the things linked; individual writers on their *opinion* pages are making the case for these positions. me: hey Iran is getting bombed & the New York Times is supporting the Trump administration's war crimes. centrist: YOU JUST HATE JAMELLE BOUIE & HAVE A FIXATION ON HIM meanwhile Nicole Saltesi
there is such a deep financial literacy problem on the right, they dont even understand how businesses work. the way the nyt works is that they are _a business_ that uses _money_ to _pay_ those people to _write_ *their* opinions.
My photo, taken in February 2026, of the old Graceβs Furniture building at 2616-18 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicagoβs Logan Square. Originally built in 1914 as a warehouse, it served as a furniture store until 2010 and is known for its 70-yr-old neon sign. Vacant since then, the ground level displays street art like this one, a repeated blue poster with a black figure giving the middle finger and the words βFuck ICE!β above it. A man walks by on the sidewalk in the foreground.

did he block you? hilarious.
My new startup, GymBot: you hire one of our state of the art ai robots to go to the gym and work out for you.
Can you point to some readings on those societies? π
OpenAI employees pushed for the company to inform Canadian police about a user they thought would engage in real-world violence months before the person did just that, killing eight people in a horrific attack in Tumbler Ridge.
The company only reached out to police after the shooting had occurred.
Riiiiight
Not having had to use windows in 10-15 years, I can never tell if Microsoftβs shittiness simply progresses along with technology or if itβs getting worse in relative terms.
Yesterday, those who teach Intro to Sociology at Florida colleges (as opposed to universities) received a ready-made curriculum from the state and were ordered to teach it.
Yes, you read that correctly. The *state* is enforcing a curriculum on college profs, complete w/ the following restrictions:
Remember the moral panic about safetyism? Trigger warnings? Snowflakes? Well, its actually happening in Texas.
FLASHBACK β 1988: @schumer.senate.gov brags about blocking the "Jackson plankβ, a DNC platform item by Jesse Jackson's presidential campaign which wouldβve supported Palestinian self-determination.

I mean sufficient amounts of ethnic violence sometimes end ethnic violence, thatβs true.

Yes we can also see it.
We're not trying to build a world where everyone lives in a discrete village and sends representatives to the world congress. We're trying to build a world of meshed relationships and associations, networks of fractal complexity that defy any conceptual borders or compartmentalization.
Joe Weisenthal @TheStalwart I do loathe all the stuff about how you have to use AI or you're going to be left behind. If it's going to be that disruptive, then there's probably not much that you can do. And also there's no skill involved in using it. There's no learning curve. Can always pick it up later. 6:26 PM Β· Feb 13, 2026 Β· 47.6K Views https://x.com/TheStalwart/status/2022452441623531818

I get that everyone who is in the know knows this already but I am quite happy for a publication to be surfacing it again, especially for readers who may not be aware

Self-host rocket chat!
Are you able to share the syllabus? I was gonna ask what you read on democracy and inclusivity.
And as I was doing all this, I started to think: why haven't I done this before? Isn't it a form of hypocrisy to have a class where I worry about authoritarian systems - and then to impose my own assignment structure without any input from those it rules?
There should be Congressional hearings over this
U.S. labor law is a standing offense to human rights and common sense
Benanavβs essay is pretty bad and Morozovβs is even worse (although some of his critique is correct).
It is genuinely wild that Russia is ruining itself and becoming a satellite state all in service of a crackpot theory about historic destiny to rule Ukrainian farmland. Such is the nature of autocracy. Mass death and destruction for the sakes of the perverse obsessions of a few ruthless horrid men.
look, who could have possibly known that Peter Mandelson would misrepresent his relationship with a shady billionaire, apart from it being the thing he resigned over the last two times?
