Me: I was at {insert-anonymous-person-2}'s house and they played this amazing song.

Her: Let's hear it.

Me: There's something about emotionally tortured alcoholics that have really good taste in music.

Her: What about {insert-anonymous-person-2}?

Me: Oh, yeah. Maybe not.

Ok. Maybe I'm wrong. I think having a robot companion when I'm late in life may actually be a good idea.

I for sure have felt less lonely when commiserating with Gemini about GPUs, Linux, and general nerdery topics.

I have an irrational dislike of OpenAI. I'm not an AI hater in general—I use Gemini for nearly all search now (including how to make an em dash on Linux).

Going consumer is such a dumb path to go down. People want *work* to be easier, not play. Too high on own supply.

This is what D&D nerds call “Chaotic Evil”

I also applaud how unhinged this is.

I would not be surprised if one of the main writers of #pluribus is in recovery.

It’s not remotely what it’s about [1], but it captures some incredibly nuanced parts of what it’s like to be an addict.

Gemini with Personal Intelligence is awfully familiar It’s getting personal.

This @allisonjo1.bsky.social article is spot on.

"As a developer you're going to love..."
"Since you like to..."

I love that it has a better memory, but it doesn't have to greet me like an eager puppy every time I ask it a question.

Tone it down sparky.

When my generation gave up on indenting paragraphs, we had no idea it would lead to a cataclysmic abandonment of capitalization and punctuation with the generations that followed.

Can we go back?

And yes, "accountability" is also a meaningless platitude, but at least its not ammunition without saying nothing.

Affordability
Accountability
Affirmative Action*

*but also messaged in a less douchey way that doesn't galvanize the opposition.

@danpfeiffer.bsky.social Putting into the liberal echo chamber:

Any dem running on an agenda that includes impeachment will be met with ambivalence. The last two did effectively nothing, yet cost useful attention and real dollars.

It also emboldens his base.

"Accountability" is a better message.

When making strong coffee in the morning, I’d warn @sarahbellum.bsky.social, “this will punch you in the face.”

Our baby turned into a kid, so we pivoted to, “this one’s a stiffy.”

Now the kid is in maturation class, and we have to pivot again to, “this one’s a triple decker.”

Growing up is hard.

In hindsight, this is the right path for them.

If the '26 series of OSes is 50/50 liquid/glass, I think changing the ratios to 80/20 is the right call. You still get the whimsy, but without the accessibility shit sandwich.

Bring the liquid, hold the glass.

@gruber.foo The carousel control on the Apple Creator Studio page supports your theory that maybe de-(gl)assification is already happening.

There's whimsy as it scrolls into view, but remains shaded. It's trivial to implement glass on the web, so this seem deliberate.

There's a sentiment that dems get nothing done.

While Republicans certainly get shit done, they do so by causing a stupid amount of harm (ICE, USAID, Venezuela, etc.).

It's almost like dems are vaccines. The lack of negative outcomes is a feature, not a bug.

LOL.

I joined a “no modality” sober group back in 2022. I credit it as the missing piece in what it took for things to click permanently.

It imploded with infighting, gossip, etc., but the first six months were truly magical and life changing.

I found AA culture to be unpalatable. However, seeing “the steps” framed this way resonates a lot.

We often let a few bad examples shape how we perceive a given topic or community.

It’s also why I always try to frame my own sober journey as, “this worked for me.” when someone asks for advice.

Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

I'd happily give these hobbies back.
