so my current guess is that the headroom for squeezing more dollars out of Claude Code is vast, and the long term value of predictable revenue from extremely loyal users is a big deal for the health of the business

this isn't Uber because the cost of the service isn't new cars and human labor

"Danilo, that's a skill issue, though, you waste tokens less because you're better at it"

and that's an effect that could happen sector-wide

but I don't think so. the planning mode has gotten so sophisticated. Turning a spec into a serious plan, including parallelizations… badass

so, what does it cost to deliver Claude Code today in exchange for $200? I don't know, and I imagine it varies dramatically by user and application

what does it cost to deliver in five years? I'd bet good money it's a great deal less, just based on how much less wasted inference I see now

this is something they can do across many dimensions

the models get better > fewer wasted turns

better strategies get codified > fewer wasted turns

holding more genuinely useful context alongside the code to generate > fewer wasted turns

great tool efficiency, on and on

one of the underrated means Anthropic has for increasing margins in Claude Code:

get the user to "done" faster, not just because inference is more efficient

but because PLANNING is more efficient, execution is more successful. this is simple ongoing R&D. keep finding ways to shave wasted cycles

I cranked this up to the limits of my speakers and the weight came off my shoulders like a helicopter yanked it directly

This song feels incredibly relevant today.

one could see how Iranian leadership could come to see themselves as aggrieved parties in need of recompense and this is a pretty big lever

Nathan Fielder is a big reason I got through 2025

The Rehearsal showed up at a point of peak exhaustion with… everything, put a surprising amount of gas in the tank

do silly things no one understands until they’re finished. You have no idea how much people need that

we can see levers for that bet to pay off

the actual mechanics of Claude Code itself have loads of room for optimization: task-specific subagents with smaller context and cheaper models

fewer turns due to higher correctness and accuracy

higher context efficiency for tool use

better silicon

this question is framed implicitly in the context of the last cycle: VC dries up and rideshare prices soar

but over the next ten years, do we imagine the cost trajectory of inference matches that of a new car and the labor to operate it?

Anthropic may bet quite profitably that larger margins await

A big factor in the AI consciousness debate is that lots of atheists/agnostics believe in souls and don’t know it

Tina is written and then performed with that tenacity that the underestimated develop

first it shows up as rejection: of Carmen and Sid, of their new program

but then as she yields and begins to believe there’s room for her excellence, it turns into tenacious execution. Timing, performance

for obvious reasons I have a soft spot for a Puerto Rican woman just trying to make it in a hard world

and Lisa ColΓ³n Zayas can turn in that performance in her sleep

but where I really get teary, choked up

It’s her sense of hope. the moments she’s brave and chooses to believe people have her back

Tina Marrero in The Bear

Tina Marrero in The Bear

if you tuned out of The Bear because it’s stressful (it is)

or because S3 was uneven (it was)

you’re missing out on so many great character arcs, some of the best ever written

and Tina Marrero’s really, really hits. The struggle of just getting by giving way to the struggle for true excellence

But you'll feel a lot more alone if your default is "I'm the only one who Truly Understands The Mess" and a lot less alone if your default is "my fellow humans must also be in versions of The Mess" and guess what

The default is a learned skill.

Look, it's a mess out there and you can react to that mess by deciding everyone else is a moron or you could react to it by deciding most people are trying to get by with a different context than yours and start working the problem. Those are your choices pretty much, can't choose "no mess"
