New study has provided data on the distribution of the giant silverfish species 𝘚𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘭𝘨𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘢, only found in caves in the Algarve. It also revealed that this species is a biological relic with particularly high conservation value, as it is isolated from other taxa: doi.org/10.3897/BDJ....

🦀 Since 2014, the #crab 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘴 has had its type locality in Genoa, Italy, yet no georeferenced records existed in @gbif.org or OBIS.

A new occurrence finally fills that gap, providing the first #open-access #metadata and documentation for the area 👇
