Monte Carlo Illustration Original Art (c.1970's) Art by Alex Toth From Heritage Auctions... A tense race scene by master artist Alex Toth! The exact use of this piece is unknown, however the paper has animation style 3-hole punches drawn in the bottom margin. The notation in the upper left reads HW "Monte Carlo" (3), which seems to point towards this being a storyboard for a proposed Hot Wheels cartoon. Toth worked on many cartoons for Hanna-Barbera, and also the licensed Hot Wheels comic book for DC comics in 1970, however, the Hot Wheels cartoon was produced by Pantomime Pictures in 1969.

Mamie Sunday Comic Strip (Nov25th1951) Original Art Art by Russell Patterson United Feature Syndicate From Heritage Auctions... Patterson, a leading painter-cartoonist of the Good Girl school of illustration, drops a significant clue in the first and second panels as to why his leading comic-strip character, Mamie, should fly into a panic over her weight. (That clue is hiding in plain sight, with a generous payoff in the final panel.) The lower tier features two paper-doll panels -- an outcropping of a craze for interactive cut-out images. Patterson had become famous during the 1920s for his Deco-styled magazine pieces, developing the vivacious "Patterson Girl" image. The present selection is a brilliant example of fashion-conscious cartooning.
