Stay Classy www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
any 1920s arts/theatre people following me who can place this front row? ... they're in the 1926 news reel about the theatre (mocking it as for 'high-brows') and I'm sure carefully set up for the camera, but I'm still wondering if they're well-known figures or caricatures of 'artsy' people
Anyone ask him about his dinner with Donnie? Or lack of.
I agree with pretty much all of this.
‘The claim that Henry Wotton averted pan-European war by recommending a league in which Anglo-Venetian forces would triumph in battle against a Habsburg-backed papacy is, perhaps, moot.’

Waiting to cross the road & a humungous trailer-tractor thing rumbles past & the man waiting alongside me & I exchange bemused WTF expressions & I think probably one of my favourite things in the world is when you share a fleeting moment of complicity with a complete stranger like that.

This, only TV and very mid celeb travelogues
cannot help thinking that the resolutely cheerful tone of the papers would be the thing I hated most, had I lived in WWII London
<nerd post>Brit nerds wincing at the price of memory, CEX online sells ram and SSDs etc. I've just ordered a 256GB NVMe m2 for 22 quid for a Pi project, which is a somewhat more manageable price than new at somewhere like Crucial
Nothing against Armstrong specifically but the TV format I least understand is "mid celebrity goes abroad"
I caught a trailer for this a day or so ago and that literally starts with Armstrong saying "India is a land of contrasts", and truly it is time to nuke the "middle-aged-white-man-makes-cliche-laden-travelogue" format.
I wonder if on one of the Indian channels some middle-aged comedian is being sent around Britain, getting the Thameslink to St Albans, sampling pey wet in Wigan, poignantly observing that there are homeless folk on the streets even in Knightsbridge, and so forth bsky.app/profile/jack...
it's hilariously awful. I don't know what's suddenly happened to world - but that man is responsible.
Utterly ludicrous
Everything's shit, but I'm typing in the garden for the first time this year. Crocuses out, primula too, everything in the garden coiled like a whatever. Robin, dunnock, blackbird, wren, fucking jackdaws and magpies, ducks, stupid pigeons, hypnotising tits, the ordinary lot. Warm sun. Approved.
Even before the illegal attack on Iran, I was preparing a talk on how climate change, and especially AMOC collapse, could lead to UK population becoming refugees. Little did I know that some of the most xenophobic Brits would be fleeing Dubai just so soon. Always remember, it could be you

I'm old enough to have had measles as a child. 0/10, would not recommend. Do not understand why anyone would not want to vaccinate their kids against a pretty nasty disease. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

You're much missed on the Nazi site, Dr Khalili. (So-called "X", that was Twitter, in happier times).
I love the Palestinian poet flying hope's flag.
Imagine being sent to your death by this guy. He makes George W Bush sound like Winston Churchill
(Not an endorsement of George W Bush FYI)
Iranian scholar friends, who would like to have their name passed on to media outlets (print or air)?
