Bikeshare hasn't been BCycle in a while... hopefully the link at least goes to the right website?

Also a giant parking garage (Corrigan) less than a block from there.
Facing south at 31st and Gillham in Kansas City. A new concrete cycle has been installed on the east side of Gillham.
New concrete protection upgrades at 31st and Gillham! South side has a median (pictured), north side has a chicane.
IMO this generally complicates the route and makes it more confusing for riders
Wouldn't a site.standard.document.contentFormat field be enough?
Due to adverse weather conditions and for the safety of our riders and staff, KC Streetcar service will conclude at 10pm tonight. Text βstreetcarβ to 816-685-8541 to stay updated on service alerts. Stay warm & safe out there, KC.
For the last five years, Kansas City has been transforming street infrastructure and redesigning roads through the Vision Zero program. Advocates applaud the progress, but want to see even more money dedicated to underserved neighborhoods.
Is that the thread with the picture of a wreck and the unfounded assumption that the bike lane was what caused the crash? As if it wasn't someone speeding, distracted, or drunk driving.
To be fair, a third of that walk is across the gigantic parking lots since those stores have no streetfront presence.
I wish they'd improve the walking experience at least. Taken the streetcar several times now to Costco and walking from the stop is not great. Seeing how they also treat bikes as an afterthought, I'm not very optimistic. Costco is allegedly progressive, wonder if they'd consider any of these ideas?
𧡠KC advocates and supporters, BikeWalkKC needs your support to keep fighting for a community where people aren't required to "drive to thrive".

I'd missed that the KCI Corridor Trail officially opened, gotta make some time to go the whole way up to 112th! www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEww...

Lots of incorrect assumptions here
Pretty gross mischaracterization of the people that live here. The SFHs & other condos in the area cost minimum 2x more. We're already maintaining 3 100+ yr old buildings, and neither I nor most of my neighbors are mega rich. It's a lot of work done by volunteers, a thankless job.
The recent deaths of two children in the KC metro has folks asking what can we do to make it safe for kids to ride e-bikes and scooters.

And a video of the official opening!
The Plaza KC Streetcar stop with multiple streetcars and a stage in the parking lot to the left. There is a small crowd walking around.
The stage for the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension opening ceremony, with audience in chairs in the foreground. Streetcar Director Tom Gerand is speaking and is flanked by seated public officials.
A KC Streetcar with a UMKC wrap on the left, at the Plaza station platform on the right. A crowd of people is standing on the platform.
A view looking left out of a KC Streetcar at the Plaza Station from the front left of the streetcar. Several KC Streetcar officials are standing outside on the platform.
Despite the crummy weather (that I biked in to get to), the grand opening of the @kcstreetcar.org Main St Extension was full of energy. Good speakers and crowd. My (first of many to come!) ride back was great - there are a lot of panoramic views I hadn't imagined as you near downtown!
Today, history rolls
forward. From River Market to UMKC, we move together, we grow together, we rise together. The #kcstreetcar Main St Extension isn't just new tracks, it's new
connections, new opportunities, & a new chapter for our city. This is what it looks like when #wemovekc

For my #KCMO friends, the city is beginning efforts to develop a 3rd District Mobility Plan.
Learn more, spread the word, and plan to attend the public meeting scheduled for October 27!

True, part of the advantage of quick build (which I would classify this as) is that you can get more distance at the expense of shoddier infrastructure. Hopefully this is extended to be useful before someone gets it ripped out.
I dunno, it took a bit for the Gillham cycletrack to be finished, it was disconnected along the way. Looks like this at least gives Independence Square a nice road diet at the least.
I imagine with the funding situation the past couple years, eliminating the Main Max was always going to be the case. I am happy to see the new 50 connector though.

For clarification: go to the "People" tab in that search link and see how Boston has set up all their city departments under their domain name.
It's only been 10 months since Bluesky opened publicly, so give it time. But imo it would help if more gov/orgs would post here regularly. Top of my head, the city, BikeWalkKC, and KC Biz Journal should be here already. I'd love to see KC do what Boston has done (bsky.app/search?q=bos...)
