This was recovered from a VHS tape and every page painstakingly repaired and turned back into a packet stream

Christmas day was a very traditional day to get married, mostly because it was one of the few days you could guarantee everyone would have off work and would be able to come to the wedding.

Happy 175th wedding anniversary to my 3rd great grandparents John and Maria Lake! And also happy anniversary to my other 3rd great grandparents John and Mary Griffiths (152 years), and at least 18 other couples in my family tree.

Alternate Realities Why competition shows from other countries are worlds apart

Se vi parolas al nebrito, vi devus klarigi ĉiukaze, ĉar ili estas tre tipe britaj kaj do alilandanoj ne komprenus eĉ kun la ĝusta vorto. Kaj se vi parolas al brito, vi ne bezonas Esperantan vorton! Same kiel ĉio kiu apartenas al nur unu lando, ni ĝenerale uzas la originalan vorton, ofte en kursivo.

Mi metus la nomon sen traduko kaj mallonge priskribus ĝin - ekzemple:

Ĉe la festmanĝo ni havis "Christmas crackers", tipaj britaĵoj konsistante el ornamita kartonaj tuboj enhavantaj paperan kronon, ŝercon aŭ devizon, kaj malgrandan (kaj steretipe malmultekostegan!) ludilon aŭ simile.

Vikipedio ofte estas bona fonto por nomoj de aĵoj en multaj lingvoj, pro la menuo de ligitaj samtemaj artikoloj en ĉiuj lingvoj. Tio ofte funkcias ankaŭ kiam artikolo mankas por la temo, kiun vi serĉas, se estas alia artikolo pri rilata temo kaj la serĉata vorto estas en la teksto.

Crackers estas aparte britaj, do ne vere estas internacia vorto. Pli bone uzi mallongan klarigan frazon. La plej multaj Vikipedioj ne tradukas la titolon (sed mankas Esp-a artikolo).

Agreed, definitely stop there. You only have 10/36 chance of getting a useful piece, and 24/36 = two-thirds chance of losing the useful pieces you've already got!

The same cassette deck as in the previous photo, playing "kalama musi pi jan Usawi". The tape box and labels are written in sitelen pona.

I do have tapes that aren't in Esperanto too... this one's in toki pona! It's a home-made one and quite possibly the only cassette of toki pona music in the whole world (please prove me wrong, I'd like to meet fellow toki pona retro tech enthusiasts!)

Incidentally, I really like the way the giant 1 and 2 on this cassette label look through the window. I usually copy that style on the labels of tapes I make myself.

A black Denon DRM-540 cassette deck playing "Team en Esperanto". The cassette box is visible in front of the deck, and stacked on top is a silver Sony CD player and another tape deck. Underneath the top of an LP collection is visible.

Deck is fully serviced and calibrated, so now for some music... en Esperanto, kompreneble!
