So no, because it does not change at runtime, because it's supposed memory is just a modifier of the noise passed through it, I have no real reason to believe it could even theoretically be conscious, let alone that an existing implementation already is.

Every single LLM is a static weighted model through which random noise (and potentially some structured information) is passed in order to provide a result that approximates what an answer from it's training set would look like.

That model does not change at runtime.

Everything we do know about conciousness and human experience suggests it's about how the flow of information feeds through our brains and then how that internal processing is continuously updating the configuration of machinery doing the processing.

And that's not at all what LLM's do.

Well the fun thing about the question "how does conciousness work?" is that there really is no consensus view. They don't capitalize the Hard Problem of Consciousness for nothing.

But what we DO know is that it involves information processing & that processing must be done in a very specific way.

Also I would not use the words "strong arming" to describe a single statement demanding the hospitals follow the law from the AG.

So no, none of them are concious & moreover none of them ever could be. I think a machine COULD be, because we know it's possible to build an information processing system that is & that's probably not down to the magic of meat. But LLM's aren't doing the thing they need to do to be so.

Yes, human experience probably involves stuff that looks a lot like generative processes, but the difference is that the weighted model we're putting information through is updating in real time in response to that information.

I dont need to know the precise process by which consciousness operates to know the broad category of info processing that would be required, or to recognize that nothing matches how information flows through an LLM.

They are emulating answers, and thats pretty neat, but no, computer is not alive.

Tacking on a "context" somewhere along that process does not change the fact that the thing doing the "thinking" is unchanging at runtime.

Two: it does not do anything with information that a conscious system would necessarily have to do. Such as a continuous feedback loop with internal information.

They pick a seed value, then pass that value through a pre-weighted unchanging mesh to emulate a likely answer.
