Even as a City fan, I absolutely loved John Barnes. And coming from Apartheid South Africa in the 1980’s seeing the adoration of John Barnes, a black man, gave me hope for humanity.
Used to live in LG and loved going to see QPR even tho I don’t support them. Fantastic fans
1981 FA Cup Final was broadcast in South Africa. Dad wanted Spurs. I said City and the addiction began, aged 9. Moved to UK in ‘84 and went and saw City in person and that was that. Living in US now, founding supporters clubs for City and helping others do the same.
