I wrote a quick blog post on the most common security issues I've encountered while testing StatusScout against hundreds of websites:

what do you think? :) #buildinpublic
#Solopreneur and #BuildInPublic folks - are you active on LinkedIn and is it worth it?
For testing I started scanning random websites with statusscout.dev and I'm surprised how many of them leak sensitive files.
It found something on around 25% of the websites. Mostly it's some kind of test.php with phpinfo() or /wp-admin but sometimes also package-lock.json or pipeline files.
It feels weird when people call me "bro" in reddits comment section, which happens quite often lately. I guess I'm getting old
Just published the new version of statusscout.dev including monitoring and much more π₯³
Before officially launching, I want to do more testing - I'll give away 6 months of free premium for anyone who is willing to test and give me some feedback :)

a very long todo list with a bunch of checkboxes checked
Ticking off some TODOs for my project statusscout.dev - still a lot to do until the next release with user accounts, notifications and more :) #BuildInPublic #WebDev
TIL there is an <output> tag in HTML #webdev

I've been working on accounts for statusscout.dev lately. I don't have as much time as I'd like to, so it's slow progress - but still progress :)
Here's a small preview on the recent state π
My goal is to finish it till end of October #BuildInPublic
The new landing page is live: statusscout.dev π
Next I'll work on improving the loading screen and on some additions to the dashboard before launching on Reddit (hopefully later this week) #BuildInPublic
Thanks a lot! π
Thanks π

I've decided on a name for the website health check - I'll call it Status Scout :) The first working version is now online:
statusscout.dev
Feel free to try it out, and please report all bugs you find π #buildinpublic
Making some good progress on my website health check :)
I hope to publish the first version in August #BuildInPublic
Today - making my website monitoring / status dashboard project responsive π±π₯οΈ #BuildInPublic

My website health dashboard is starting to look nice π it also has a dark mode now ππ #BuildInPublic
Built a website health dashboard in my spare time inspired by needs at work - it includes various cron checks, custom test flows, and error notifications. Thinking about refining it, open-sourcing it and putting it online for others to use. But still a lot to do until it is ready :)

Super happy that Thunderbird is now also available for Android. Just switched, and it is way faster than my previous Mailing App.
I took some time today to implement some small feature requests for bsky-embed. With version 0.2.5 you can now:
- disable images
- disable videos
- disable video autoplay

A while ago, I've built workout.lol - an open source fitness app. After some licensing issues with the exercise videos, I sold the app to some guy who just abandoned it.
So I'm really happy to see that @snouzy.bsky.social forked the project and improved it a lot. Go check it out!

Which LLM do you use for coding tasks?
TIL about the browser extension "I still don't care about cookies" that gets rid of most cookie banners.

This looks really nice: vert.sh
I'll try it next time I need to convert something
In this case you could use your username instead of the feed like this:
<bsky-embed
username="thenomi.bsky.socialβ¬"
></bsky-embed>
The readme has a small section "how to find your feed id":
www.npmjs.com/package/bsky...
If you struggle to find it you can send me the link to your feed and I can look it up for you π
Yeah, it looks like you need to be logged in to display feeds that are personalized. The embed doesn't support it yet.
