It's 3:30 a.m. and I'm awake? Why?
Apparently now is when my brain insists:
"We must write!"

Stupid brain. Must sleep so can function.
Go to sleep!
All the colors I like.
Well, I did it. I sent my query and submission off. I don't know why the act of pressing the send button is more nerve-wracking than singing karaoke in a room full of people (did that too.) Now the long wait begins, but in the meantime I WRITE!!!

The post-con crash finally caught up with me yesterday and I had to fight not to go to bed at 6:30 pm. And do you think I get a weekend to myself to recover? Noooo. I'm helping with an event this weekend. Still no rest for the weary.
Hey everyone. I created a Substack to help stay connected. If you'd like to check it out, head on over to: sagebyrne.substack.com/p/sage-byrne...

WRITE!!!
I'm trying to get a newsletter put together for my in-person writing group, sharing some of what I learned from the conference. Our group is formed in the spirit of writers lifting writers. We all succeed together.

I'm extremely happy to say that some of my new friends from the SAGA writing conference have already made contact. We formed such a close bond in a relatively short period of time, I would hate to lose that. My heart is lighter today.

Not gonna lie, I had tears in my eyes when I had to leave to go catch my flight. I felt like I was leaving my family.
I was there. It was truly magical.

I'm back from the writing conference. Made a lot of new friends, went to a ton of panels, sang karaoke, and had a blast! I'm so glad I went. Oh, and I pitched to a publisher and the want the first 3 chapters!

I handed mine off to an editor so I'd stop touching the damn thing.
Been there. It's the worst. Well, not quite as bad as handing it off to the editor. That nearly did me in.
I am going to take a break for a couple of weeks. Finishing book two was a huge win. Next week I go to a writing conference. Here's hoping to meet new friends & come back with more knowledge I can put to use.

I'm glad I emailed my editor today to book my slot. Her next opening is August.
I also made it 1,192 words into book three, and the second scene is devastaing in the best way.

Driving home from the ER early early this morning, I spotted a UFO near Eglin AFB. Not a plane, military flare or drone.
No idea what it was.
Sitting in the ER providing moral support while verifying that I got the hospital details correct in book two.

I'm finding, now that book one is complete and the manuscript for book two is ready for first edits, things are moving much faster. I spent the entire morning plotting book three from start to finish.

Let's talk about character flaws. What flaws do you find effective for a protagonist?

In case you missed it yesterday, I finished #writing the first draft of book two last night!! I'm going to let it rest for a few weeks before I jump into editing, but it looks like I'll be releasing two books this year!

Hear ye! Hear ye!!
I just finished #writing book two of the series!
I'll let it sit until I get back from the writing conference, and then dive into editing.

I'm getting labs done this morning and heard an announcement: "A human will call you when they're ready."
If an android steps out, I'm punching it.
I know I haven't been posting much this week. Had a $9,000 electrical emergency to deal with, though, I did just hit the 87k word mark on #writing book two! The end is nigh!

Words from the attic:
Push. Stop. Push. Stop. Push. Stop.
Give me some more.
A little more.

I feel like I was forced into a pen name. Under my maiden name, another author has 16 novels. Under my current name, it is a rabbit hole preventing people from ever finding my work.
So here I am, learning to be a pen name while I bury my true name.
I created this acct under my pen name so that I could have a retreat from the politics on my main acct. Might work for you, too.
Total word count before I call it a night is 80,001.
Book two is almost complete!
