well i have the stupid answer! unreal engine 5 is crappily optimised and its particle system doesn't play very well at all with older/integrated GPUs.
I made a mod a while ago which simplifies the offending particle effects i found if you'd like to try it

personally i see zelda-likes as much more linear in progression than metroidvanias.
oh! just remembered that metro gravity also exists which is closer to pseudoregalia in structure but has more puzzle and combat focus
