I think I've been holding back some of my best work for fear of it being too taboo or too uncomfortable, but it's what compels me, and I'm so inspired by the artists who make beautiful pieces which touch on "riskier" subjects, more detailed gore, it's really quite skillful and beautiful.

when you experience these things in real life, you don't have the power. So fiction may be the one place you do. To take away the spaces for that artistic expression is to leave the power only in the hands of people who don't care that it's fucked up to assault, abuse (etc) in real life.

I enjoy the taboo for the same reason people enjoy horror, it's strange an unsettling, it causes a reaction of disgust, thrill, curiosity, and in fiction you have the power over it! You can control it! You decide when it is over: you can close the book, put down the pencil, safeword from the scene.

because the taboo is fucked up in real life. abuse, assault, rape, incest, necrophilia, whatever I can think of, it's fucked up in real life. fiction is the safe place to unpack and explore these things and talk about why they're fucked up AND to put the power back into your hands, as the author.

Sandolphon, though, is meant to be mindless eyecandy with no free will. Any art of him is meant to be the one-dimensional fantasy perception, the vision of him as others see him. The sexual themes are meant to show how his mischaracterization after death is invasive, objectifying, perversely so.

Metatron, though, as far as my art is concerned, seems to live in a world where there is far more porn logic incorporated into every quest of baldur's gate than we remember. he seems to unlock a multitude of secret endings which involve him getting far more action than he has canonically achieved.

Calne is the exception. They really are just fucking all the time at the thalmor embassy. That old man (re: Ancano) is going to end up with irreversible damage.
