Risk would surely provide better strategic training than whatever weβre doing.
@guyintheblackhat.bsky.social & @megueyb.bsky.social have been my guides in many ways (or proof that there are many pathways), Iβve talked a lot to @kierongillen.bsky.social about it as I teach/research DIE, & it emerges from reflections on what undergirds @itsquinns.bsky.social reviewing labor
The Gathering My Parties (about creating a new home group from scratch) is in conversation with my teaching but explores a question I hear a lot & not answered: how do you bring people together to play deep games in intentional ways?
Which is really a bigger question of how we build real community.
I love all this! Thank you for sharing! It reminded me a lot of me dictating blog posts about teaching on the way to my car each week.
Reputational damage? Or accountability?
I love that you do these video updates! Have you ever posted or written about them anywhere? Would love to read about how youβre approaching it so that I can talk about it coherently when I describe it to others.
Looks like there were multiple bomb threats at universities across the Commonwealth today. www.vpm.org/news/2026-03...
Now _this_ is digital humanities.
The MLA, AHA, and ACLS have filed a lawsuit against DOGE's illegal termination of NEH grants. I don't need to hear what DOGE bro Nate Cavanaugh has to say, so I made an edit of his deposition that completely cuts out his voice. Leaving you just his gum popping and eye rolling.
earlier this year I had the pleasure to join Esther Jang of @seattlecommunitynetwork.org and Monique Tate at Community Tech New York on a Benton Institute webinar about community networks as sites of learning. Check out the recording, it was a great conversation
I don't think grammarly should just get to do "sorry deleting now" after ventriloquizing living and dead people without their consent to make money

I don't know how I got on this mailing list. I cannot ever seem to get taken off. But maybe it's exactly what I need in these trying times.

If you are an academic worker who is not sure what action might look like in your context, my workbook Taking Action in Higher Ed might help.
It has some tools for assessing risk and some suggestions for how to build solidarity and take steps to fight repression.

Yesss
Also, humble request that there be an audiobook recording. Have to imagine there would be an audience for it!
Yesss congratulations!!! Cannot wait to read.
Which is to say, Iβm unbelievably thrilled to say this morning Iβve signed a contract with @mitpress.bsky.social for the trade publication of my next book, an exploration of the first two decades of TTRPG Actual Play.
Any other DH people get invited to contribute to this AI benchmark thing?
Oh no! This is so sad!
Most of this is appalling waste but the piano makes sense and I hope they keep it tuned and well maintained. Get a Moog and a bass as well. Stop buying bombs.
I suppose the best dystopia this could all lead to is one in which our technocratic overlords spend all their time reading poetry and debating the value of art.
New challenge find the beauty in art and culture that is not the sum total of a set of manufactured parts. Do the literary equivalent of touching grass. Read something.
βWe have made a thing that could write a decent email so now accept it as a meaningful substitute for the sum total of every possible human expression.β
I mean sure thatβs a vibe but who wants a life like that?
Signed the guy who would rant against Cormac McCarthy with any C20 scholar who would listen in grad school but is apparently defending him in this AI quiz.
See also the recent thought terminating discussion about whether Claude has consciousness (it does not). A quiz asking you to select better writing is nothin more than AI slopaganda
Increasingly find myself wanting to spend _more_ time on writing in direct proportion to how much AI is supposed to be the quick fix magic pill so that you never have to write again.
That is to sayβ¦there is a contract youβre entering into when you pass a thing off as your own, whether in full or in part. What does it say about how you value the recipient?
