It’s mostly been funded by grants in San Jose, but it’s in the 500k-2m/year range depending on the size of the city with LYT.ai. It’s very inexpensive compared to other transit improvements.

Good morning and happy Monday from the bus 🚌✨
Night bus vibes 🚌✨
I like a little pizza with my garlic 🧄🍕😂

I guess they moved here, but they’re still transit twitter bros lol
Nothing is better than making your transfer thanks to transit signal priority after writing about it 😎😎😎
I have the exact same issue with both groups, even though, on paper, I should have more in common with the transit bros 🤷🏻
Transit twitter bros and conservative anti-transit guys are equally as incapable of listening to anything I have to say and it’s pretty hilarious 😂
I don’t have a technical piece in the SJ Spotlight, but LYT (the vendor SJ went with) has a lot of good info: lyt.ai/solutions/ly...
TSP is so helpful 🚌💨
Some of them have a long history of undermining support for SCC projects and priorities, but all of that aside, the SCC messaging is severely lacking.
It’s common sense to use wins to build support for more taxes. That should have been done since day 1.
💯%
It's a miss for this campaign not to talk about wins like this.
Running fear-based campaigns doesn't work half as well in this era as running on a strong, positive, affirmative vision.
I hope they put more emphasis on the things that agencies are doing right!
We've had lots of good press in the past month or so about breaking the ridership record at the Super Bowl and Transit Signal Priority.
I get that these guys don't want to see us succeed, but they need us to pass this measure.
It’s honestly so unbelievable that the Connect Bay Area people can’t be bothered to share a single good clip about San Jose or Santa Clara County.
Highlighting transit wins gets people to support transit and maybe new taxes for transit 🤯
TSP is something that we were able to move forward with in San Jose when there wasn’t political support for more expensive bus improvements. And it’s had a positive and measurable impact on bus speed.
That’s why I think it’s great, and I want more people to know it’s an option.
And if anyone from other cities is interested in transit signal priority, please reach out. I'm happy to help.
Thank you all so much for the support on the column 🫶
As an independent creator, everything I have is because of your support. I'm able to get things like this out there because of all of you, and I’m so grateful.

Good morning and happy Friday from the bus 🚌✨
Pretty much lol
I know that I probably post way too much about TSP, but I put myself out there for it for so many years and asked people to spend money on it. And dealt with so many doomers and gloomers.
So yeah, I do want people to know that it worked.
Most of the transit things I’ve worked on don’t get much attention because I’m an independent advocate, so neither side goes to bat for me.
But I’m really proud of the work that’s been done to speed up transit in San Jose, especially since political will was so lacking then.
Less than 4 years later, the “toothless” San Jose Transit First policy increased bus speeds by up to 20% in the 12th-largest city in the US.
That’s pretty significant and far from toothless. But what do I know? I'm just a 20-something y/o 🤷🏻😂

It’s not every day you get to follow up on a policy you wrote about years ago and report that it actually worked.
Less than four years after San Jose passed its Transit First policy, buses are now moving up to 20% faster thanks to transit signal priority. sanjosespotlight.com/mallon-san-j...

It’s pretty huge, and I’m grateful we had the leadership to do it!
Speeding up buses by 20 percent in 6 years through citywide implementation of transit signal priority is huge!
It wasn’t an easy fight and it was a slow process, but it was worth it for the zooms 🚌💨
TSP is worth every penny, and so is the fight for it! 👏
