Same issue took out a good chunk of the Australian parliament a while back, Section 44 Crisis. You have to renounce your citizenship and that can take weeks. Had to hold a bunch of by elections to resolve it.
One of the common concerns I’ve heard is that some people have British citizenship via parents/grandparents, despite being born in another country, and don’t even know it. They would be required to enter the UK on a British passport and have never even held one. That’s a problem.
