Absolutely. I was just talking with someone about this topic. And unraveling the masks is sometimes so nuanced that the purposes of the different layers are complex. There's no easy off button after so many years; it's exhausting. Sorry you're dealing with it too.

If I can't complete something on a periodic basis, I try to at least make some sort of measurable iterative progress on it.
It depends what is keeping me from the activity. If it's motivation, the solution I used to have was being habitual with it, which meant forcing myself sometimes which can suck, but doing something consistently is easier for me than taking big breaks.
