Here's a real thing that happens in the High Plains of the Northern Texas panhandle: fire tornados made of burning tumbleweeds.

I hate to inform you that MANY, if not most, of the most active news consumers in America get their political commentary and news from THE COMMENTS on assorted video platforms.

Yeah, this is so irritating. The admin doesn’t have the authority to do a bunch of the shit it’s doing, but a few lawsuits and a little bullying and the media just plays along. Their bread needs buttering, I suppose.

Turning my garage into a woodshop is my birthday present to me this year.

Wood is so expensive! I am only just starting out. I bought a table saw and a bunch of little stuff like clamps and squares and so on. I already had a miter saw. I think if I get a planer, I will be set because there is lots of rough-milled lumber where I am.

It’s a fun hobby so far.

I made a shelf. Is it good? No! But it was good practice. It’s made from the cheapest possible wood, $22 total. I may sand and paint it some day. In the meantime, it will be put to use, storing tea. Most importantly, I enjoyed building it (and no computer screens were involved).

Agree. They moved all the buttons and didn’t make things better in the process so it mostly amounts to moving the furniture in a dark room.

Yeah, I think X has several cohorts (like all generations?) and this video only describes one. I am probably 80-90% this, tho. My parents actually used the phrase “benign neglect” to describe their parenting style. And it fits my attitude toward work 100%.

I also think this goes a long way toward explaining why #GenX is very productive but also the worst generation socially and politically.

(I’ll keep most of that thread to myself, because it might to generate unwanted attention. 😇)

“The less people know about me, the safer I am” really hit home. There’s a furtiveness about most #GenX folks I know, like they expect to be discovered and shut down by the authorities, even if they’re “not doing anything wrong” (by their own estimation).
