The idea that imperfect victims aren’t worth defending is much bigger than me, and is something I had to speak out about.

What kind of world does it create when only some of us are deemed worthy of institutional support and safety?

Charred pot residues reveal prehistoric Europeans' surprisingly complex cuisines Thousands of years ago, European communities used a variety of plant and animal products to create elaborate meals, according to a study published in the open-access journal PLOS One by Lara GonzΓ‘lez ...

"Each culture had their own complex culinary traditions."

Let's say it again: they were just as smart, as innovative and creative as we are.

I planned to share my report on the body cam footage early next week when I learned that a DC news station had obtained some of the footage as a result of my lawsuit and they were going to scoop me. After working on this for a year, I couldn't let that happen. Published 2 mins before they aired :)

Having similarly dealt with far-right characters I’ve reported on engage in stalking / harassing behaviour to the point where lawyers needed to be engaged, I can say Canada’s laws are completely insufficient to deal with these problems and I have zero trust in the legal system to protect journalists

Tonight, two of the white nationalists I reported on in this piece showed up to attempt to intimidate me on a private night out at a small music venue.

I’ll have more to say tomorrow. I’m safe.

They also didn’t pay cover πŸ–•

They are torturing and killing people in our concentration camps, and I wish more people were actively bothered by that

I think one of the things that bothers me the most about the way Polymarket presents itself to the world is that it's adopted the language of journalism to make itself sound more legitimate. Like look at this post from yesterday morning incorrectly "projecting" the winner.

I’ve unmasked a white nationalist fight club in my city: Montreal.

After weeks of work (with help!), I can reveal an Olympian as a member of the Frontenac Active Club β€” one who, unbeknownst to the owners, brought them to a local gym for training and propaganda photos.

Here’s my investigation:

Libraries, easy. They buy the books and if they're checked out a lot, they sometimes buy extra/replacement copies. Plus they are a public good that should be supported.

(Used bookstores are cool too! Local economy ftw!)

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didn’t drop the rod. WTF

very funny to me to see folks who have no social media presence outside of twitter say you have to be on twitter to be influential

This is exactly right. The Onion quietly left Twitter a month ago and... our weekly subscribers went up. It's because we're doing well here, on Instagram and on YouTube.

As a business, being on Twitter is somewhere between useless or detrimental, unless you're selling boner pills.

They’re killing people in the concentration camps. The kids they’re not killing are going through some of the worst trauma humanly imaginable.

This is what’s happening outside the people we’ve seen murdered in broad daylight. Lock the fuck in, people.

Very glad to hear!

Thank you for the link! I haven't had anytime to do ATproto exploration, but maybe the event is the kick in the butt to get back into it and meet some of the amazing people thinking deeply on the subject!

based on how today's xbox reshuffling played out and who's taking over, I doubt things are about to get better for xbox devs and fans any time soon. but phil spencer's departure, like that of great many video game execs, is long overdue

We make fun of elon but this is a clean win for him. Even after rebranding twitter as a goebbels computer with A.I. revenge porn journalists stayed on it frying their brains for retweets from jd vance and faulty sean spicer clones. Now they’re writing β€œDoes AOC’s Brain Smell Different?”

One of the frustrating things about β€œmainstream” reporting on these right-wing alt-media outlets is they describe them as β€œpartisan” or assume they’re trying to get Poilievre elected

If you actually listen to them, they tell you exactly what they’re trying to do – namely normalize extremist ideas:

Here's my paths update for this #screenshotSaturday. Improved the continuity and intersection handling by keeping track of segments in a path graph data object, and then rasterizing the heights from that. Still room for improvement for later.

Building the camps The warehouseification of detention and initial thoughts on stopping it.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

Bruce Fanjoy:

Statement Regarding the Return to Office Policy
February 9*, 2026
On February 5th, 2026, the federal government announced an updated Return-to-Office
(RTO) policy for federal public servants. Today, I am calling upon the government to reconsider this policy for the following reasons:
1. The new RTO policy makes it harder to achieve the government's priorities of reducing the operating cost of government, improving affordability, and respecting the environment. Instead, it will cost both the government and citizens more and increase pollution.
2. There is little to no evidence that a one-size-fits-all RTO policy will improve productivity or service to Canadians.
3. The RTO policy makes it harder for public servants to balance work with other responsibilities.
I believe Canada is better served by a hybrid model that balances a mix of in-office and remote work. The right balance is flexible and depends on circumstances. Done well, a hybrid model reduces the cost of government and benefits workers and all Canadians.
To my constituents in Carleton, I hear you. I will continue to press for solutions that work for you and all Canadians.
Sincerely,
Bruce Fanjoy
Member of Parliament for Carleton

Since the early days of the space program, astronauts have quarantined before missions because any illness could be disastrous. It’s eminently logical β€” not β€œextreme” β€” for athletes who’ve trained their WHOLE LIVES for one event to take similar precautions in order to stay in peak physical condition

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

Federal public servants called back to office 4 days a week starting this summer | CBC News The federal government expects its employees to return to in-office work for a minimum of four days a week starting this July.

Two things I’m not sure is widely understood:

1. Many public servants no longer have their own desks and work in transient government co-working spaces

2. Many describe a Kafkaesque existence of going to physical offices only to spend their time on video calls with the people sitting next to them
