Why is the US attacking Venezuela, kidnapping its head of state? Why is it trying to starve the people of Cuba, what is it playing at in Ecuador, why is it enabling a genocide in the Gaza Strip? Why is its president trying to extort the world? Because it is governed by criminals.

Analysis Suggests School Was Hit Amid U.S. Strikes on Iranian Naval Base
New NY Times βvisual investigationβ strongly suggests that the US fired the missile that hit the Minab school Saturday. (Though is very careful with its language to not say it conclusively.)

Imagine them still doing this with, say, Ratko Mladic in 1995. And the IDF has been massacring civilians at a rate that makes that guy look more like a somewhat boisterous drunk driver than a military commander.

Consider: why is America, a country in North America, attacking Iran on the other side of the world? What right does the US have to bomb and attempt to destroy any country, anywhere on Earth? It has no right to do so. Itβs doing it because it is governed by criminals.

I wish this didn't feel so prophetic but considering how the alternative is Trump & Hegseth accepting a humiliating climbdown, and that the bedrock behaviour of the US & Israel from the Gaza Genocide onwards has been exercises in intelligence-insulting irony, it's becoming harder to discount.

Press Association comment from Quakers in Britain
This evening, for the second time in a year, the Metropolitan Police raided a Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists who were meeting there on the grounds that they were conspiring to commit a criminal act.
The room in Westminster Quaker Meeting House was let to Take Back Power to hold nonviolent direct action training. Quakers support the principle of nonviolent direct action, which aims to protest without harming people.
Oliver Robertson, head of witness and worship for Quakers in Britain, said:
βFor Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.
βWhilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.
βThat this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.β
Statement from @quaker.org.uk about tonight's police raid on Westminster Meeting House. Guys, I don't think they're buying the Met's line about it all being a cover for plotting "mass shoplifting"

In post-colonial Africa, the ethical neutrality of AI is pure fantasy
If we treat AI as a purely rational evolution of human intelligence, we risk repeating colonial erasure on a digital scale, says AgnieszkaΒ Piotrowska
'conversations about AI sound fundamentally different in Africa....There, debates about technocratic issues such as innovation, productivity, regulation and βsafetyβ β the anxieties of the designer and the proprietor β are inseparable from histories of extraction and epistemic violence.' 1/2

There is absolutely zero explanation for hitting targets like this unless your objective is to destroy any possibility of normal life and produce mass civilian death. Completely unjustifiable and another war crime. We saw this thirty years ago in Iraq.

If itβs not a regime change operation; if there is no intention to advance to a ground invasion; if the strategy is to provoke inter-ethnic uprisings and conflicts; if the plan is to smart bomb until there is none left, then switch to dumb bombs, then the practical objective is tacit: Genocide.
