Respecting people's time is one of the core things behind building The Arab League of Misfits. It will never be a live service game, nor a predatory grind. Just a good solid fun game you can jump in for 10-15 minutes during your day, without any sense of FOMO.
Nazih's sketchbook rests on a wooden surface, displaying a three-panel comic pencil sketch. An orange mechanical pencil lies on the right page. The left panel shows a man with a thick mustache wearing a traditional fez and vest. He looks upward with a stern expression while inhaling a lot of air. The top-right panel features a close-up of the same man shouting. Beside him, the Arabic word "Toz" is written in a jagged, explosive speech bubble. The bottom-right panel depicts a different character being blown backward by the force of the shout. His aggal and keffiyeh flies off and playing cards scatter around him as he falls.
Today is a hard day, so I took my venting out on a piece of paper as I started sketching more ideas for The Arab League of Misfits.

This is what peak game design looks like

We should probably say that this prototype and our upcoming full release will not go near anything genAI related. It's a full on human made game for you all
Excited to be finally able to show some of the prototype gameplay we've been working on behind the curtain. I'm having a blast with this project! ๐โจ
And so the pitch season commence as we wrap up our final Arab League of Misfits prototype build today!
May the gaming deities bless us with funding for our game.

Made this ุทุฒ VFX for @nazihfares.com's Arab League of Misfits today! Was going for that "Toz" vibes
Kiddo is doing some QA sessions on The Arabic League of Misfits prototype. He already plays Pokemon TCG Pocket and Lorcana with me, so figured I could get his feel of it.
He randomly shouted over the sound of the headset "is that your voice in this game?"

This Arab League of Misfits prototype is a lot of fun... Also figured we claim the #ALoM hashtag since a good game should have its own social media shenanigans?
ngl I'm having a bit too much fun with this project !
It's so nice to see it all come together. It's really fun to work on and with so many talented people ๐
The digital tabletop layout for the game Arab League of Misfits prototype rests on a brown surface with a decorative rug border. Various items decorate the board, including a cassette tape, a glass of tea, and two water glasses. The screen displays a large white notification reading TRIGGERED in the center. Active cards on the table include Desert Grit and a purple card titled Tozz which features a black and white caricature. The hand at the bottom contains cards with titles such as Nargileh Shuffle, Extra Toum, Unintelligible Dialect, and Your Mom's Allowance. Scores for two players are visible as the numbers 10 in orange and blue. Cards titled The Voice of Conscience and Banter Session appear in the right corners of the play area.
It's a lot of doom and gloom these couple of first days of the year, yet seeing the Arab League of Misfits prototype getting close to the finish line with draft music, voiceover and effects gave me so much hope. I'm so thankful for the people behind our project.
We were playtesting the demo build yesterday and I genuinely caught myself not wanting to refresh my hand to find the problem card that needed testing because I was too invested in the match.
Always a good sign when even a test has you unable to put the game down!
A black-and-white sketch of an angry, mustached man shouting โTOZZ!โ with explosive scribbled symbols like #?! flying from his mouth. The illustration appears on a mock trading-card layout titled โUltimate Insult | Shatara.โ The effect text reads: โDiscard x cards. Deal x damage.โ The bottom flavor text says, โTozz! The universal answer.โ The card border features Mahjar Coalition and Vol. 1 identifiers.
We heard you like actual placeholder assets designed by hoomans... Here's Tozz!

A vibrant neon-styled logo reading โThe Arab League of Misfits.โ The letters glow in green, teal, and purple, with playful sparkles and highlights. One of the I letters is shaped like a flip flop. The logo sits on a deep purple background with a faint Arabic textured pattern.
Things have been quiet on purpose, but The Arab League of Misfits is in "reconstruction" mode at the studio with mechanics tightened, cards rebuilt and jokes sharpened.
The lid stays on for now, but we can give you a glimpse at the finalized game logo, courtesy of the talented Ibrahim Hamdi.

What a wild week it's been!
Days of back and forth with the French government, and plenty of formalities, but hey le Cabinet du @savoirludique.com is now an official registered company, we found our Art Director, and we are one step closer to make this game happen... Once we have the funds ๐
Good morning weโre making a very Arab card game.
Let's test this @bsky.app! Here's a shameful The Arab League of Misfits plug while we're at it.
A screenshot of a DM from Sara Alfageeh saying Nazih only have one thing to say after reading all the pitch documents, game overview, design doc, gtm plan, sketches and all. I'm in This is really, really special.
What a beautiful way to wake up and get a message from the lovely @saraalfageeh.bsky.social about The Arab League of Misfits. We're going to be the Arab Avengers at this point
A slide image for the satirical card game "The Arab League of Misfits," created by Cabinet du Savoir Ludique. The left side reads โFUND THIS GAME! Or nobody will, and that would be a shame.โ Below that is a yellow box with a mock review: โFinally, a card game that lets you win Arabic family arguments for realโ โ My mother. On the right is a large black and white logo of the game with a stylized slipper replacing the โIโ in โMisfits.โ Behind the logo is a faded sketch of the game interface. A small caption under the logo reads: โYes, thatโs a slipper in our WIP logo.โ A legal disclaimer at the bottom notes the game is protected under French intellectual property law
Pitched my game to the first publisher and let me tell you it's strange being on the other side of the industry after all these years. But I'm confident, and hope that funds and publishers will see the value in funding the first culturally grounded Arab card game.
