That being said. Unless you like frustration, fiddling with impossibly tiny bits, and no guarantee that your closed system unrepairable Apple phone will work with a 3rd party replacement, get someone else to do it for you.

A brief postscript. I took the busted phone into a corner-shop repair store today, to see what they could do. They pulled it apart and have confirmed to me that....
The replacement battery I got was faulty.
Not my failure at all. In fact they said it was well reassembled.

A EU flag flying on a building. It has a blue and purple gradient with the GCN logo and the article's title that reads: "Top EU court delivers landmark ruling on legal gender recognition". At the bottom of the image, a message says: "Read more on www.gcn.ie at the link in bio".

Ah lookit. Every day is a school day. At least I learned something. Mostly that I’m a fool 🥴
Definitely suggest jewellers magnifying head mounted glasses and ALL THE TWEEZERS.
I will investigate as tbph really would like to get away from the tech giants. I recently rebuilt my window surface laptop 3 with Linux Mint and am very impressed.
That’s what the website said. Turns out the website was LYING.
I’m sure you can do it. Anyone can fuck something up. But why not take it and pay someone else to do it and then if it gets fucked up you have someone else to blame?
Isn’t that RTFA?
I've just spent the last 3 hours installing a replacement battery in my iPhone 14 and I would like to share my experience with y'all.
My 4 yr old iPhone 14 Pro was a great phone, and its still plenty fast and has a quite up to date camera. But after 500+ charges, its battery wasn't the best. 🧵
Probably as good as American intelligence amirite?
Lesbians love a bit of DIY so they do, but also are significantly more likely to have done all necessary research before undertaking any significant activity. Unlike us men who just jump in feet first. Manual? Pfft.. I know what I’m doing.

Don't be like me. If you need anything done to your phone, take it to a specialist. Because you do not want to feel as stupid as I feel now, or as poor as I am about to feel mid-month. End 🧵 /Parable/
I now need a new phone which will cost hundreds of euro and to top it all my husband hasn't stopped laughing for a good 20 minutes. My humiliation is complete. Its at times like this I wish I was born female. No woman would have made this error, this level of arrogant confidence is unique to men.
So lets take stock here. In order to save myself €15, I decided to undertake a specialist job myself, I spent 3 torturous hours fiddling with impossibly tiny bits, all whilst slowly realising my own ineptitude and helplessness and obsolescence only to ruin a perfectly good phone worth €264...
Also "reassemble my phone" is a stretch. I managed to screw some screws in, and the phone now certainly looks like it did before, but unfortunately it certainly no longer qualifies entirely as an iPhone 14 Pro as it no longer charges and quickly turns off as soon as I turn it on. It is an EX iPhone.
This was a 3 hour period of much cursing, gnashing of teeth, rending of clothing and pulling of hair, leading to a dawning realisation of failing eyesight and dexterity and ultimately the slow inevitable descent into uselessness that we all must ensure, and which I am enduring HARD right now.
This unfortunately was not I. I was stuck with the basic kit, and as you can imagine, reader... it did not go well. I managed to disassemble the phone, I managed to remove the old battery, I managed to insert the replacement battery and I managed to reassemble, over 3 torturous hours, my phone.
Adding all of these tools, increases the baseline cost of €44.95 (plus P&P) to €111.00 quickly demonstrating to anyone who bothered to RTFM before embarking on this precipitous route that they would be much better off getting a specialist who obviously already has these tools to do the job for you.
In fact, iFixit recommend (and unsurprisingly sell) a plethora of additional tools and components which make the job a whole lot easier. These tools are not offered alongside the basic toolset, you only become aware of them when you RTFM, and so are designed to catch out COMPLETE MORONS like me.
As I was only now opening up the step-by-step guide for how to complete this repair it became quickly apparent that whilst the €44.95 basic repair kit gives you all the tools that you technically NEED to complete this task, tools with cute little names like spudgers and standoff heads and y000 heads
