If you were a billionaire you might be able to afford nearly four models
someone said to me yesterday, βYouβre never happy with how you look because your body has become a project, not a homeβ and it honestly fucking floored meοΏΌ
i know buds mean well when they post stuff like βi cant believe chuck tingle went from erotica to traditional bestseller listsβ and thats FINE. i take it in the kind way it is intended. at same time, i want to live in a world where fantastical sexuality in art is not seen as a gutter to emerge from
I am actually a very decent cook! I just canβt be bothered when thereβs only me here.
Currently working my way through all the watercress soup that my partner batched cooked for me before he left, because he knows that I will eat like an absolute gremlin when there is no one else in the house π
I almost never think about my books in relation to film, because that isnβt why I write.
But whenever I see Mackenzie Crook I canβt help but think how absolutely perfect heβd be for the mc of The Silence in Heaven
"And lest anyone think this is purely a selfish ruling on our partβwe know plenty of Outer God sycophants who are feeling the same pain right now. But not, you know, the same pain that comes from your humanity being sucked out of your ears by an infernal soul vacuum."
The whole class stayed to watch this get recorded π
Yes, we did it for real. Not acting, not faking (but he did wear a box, otherwise itβd be crippling lol).
That throat jab looks like a joke, but it genuinely hurts like hell, while requiring very little strength to pull off.

the really wild one is sellers who confuse Indian and Chinese clothes
like girl youβre not even on the same subcontinent now wtf
My Vinted pet peeve is when obviously-Chinese items are listed as Japanese, eg Qipao adjacent clothes are being sold as βkimonosβ
Kimonos and Qipao look nothing alike structurally, itβs not even close π€¨ if you canβt be bothered to list them right, I canβt be bothered to buy
Absolutely this. (And itβs better than what is happening in the states by a mile lol)
Hello 999? Iβd like to report a fatality
Thatβs what we can convict him with, not what bothers us about him. People up and down the country think heβs a nonce and put up posters about it in his neighbourhood. He is also being investigated for at least one other woman mentioned in the files, too.
I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.
And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
Cor what a time to be alive
The author, the first page, and the book
A little update to this. A source emailed me to say they'd used an industry tool to look up Coral Hart's sales and they totaled only 37 copies for the books under that pen name.
So, yeah I do not believe the six figures on 50k sales the NYT reported.
We do as much as we can, but I probably already have more leverage than many
Oooo I will
Publishing is an industry of habits and ingrained practices and gentlemanβs handshakes. The power imbalance is such that those demands do not work out in the authorβs favour.
If you donβt take the terms, there will be a queue of other folks happy to occupy the spot for you π
Unfortunately money is conditional on delivery in publishing, and itβs common practice for contracts to not be finalised into *months* along in the process.
Eg if you get an offer in January, the contract will probably be signed around 5-6 months down the line, meanwhile edits and production start
It must be so bad for photographers!
I did a bit of freelance editing back in the day and people were awful for payment
Lmao same π€£
Waterstones are also pretty good to work with, local indie stores too.
And most of the foreign pubs have been fine, too. But the ones that are slow, are really damn slow lol.
For contrast, because good things need applauding sometimes:
Iβm working with a (still secret!) European con team atm who are SO NICE and so much better, the difference is staggering. Accommodation and travel covered, things paid in advanceβ¦ just wow π
