Sorry I was trying to add to the tone deafness with my example of Canadians being mostly concerned about how the war impacts their travel plans. I’ll leave this thread here as I’m definitely not trying to antagonize you.

I’m obviously generalizing. The actions of individuals and of groups often differ.
I saw a headline about how Canadian travellers have their plans affected by the war. The truth is that people always prioritize concerns from a local point of view outwards.
Screenshot from project 2025 that says By statute or regulation, CDC guidance must be prohibited from taking on a prescriptive character. For example, never again should CDC officials be allowed to say in their official capacity that school children "should be" masked or vaccinated (through a schedule or otherwise) or prohibited from learning in a school building. Such decisions should be left to parents and medical providers. We have learned that when CDC says what people "should" do, it readily becomes a "must" backed by severe punishments, including criminal penalties. CDC should report on the risks and effectiveness of all infectious disease-mitigation measures dispassionately and leave the "should" and "must" policy calls to politically accountable parties. Conflicts of Interest. There was a time when the CDC could not take money
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.
It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.
And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).
Me tweeting that I would be joining Twitch 14 years ago.
Worked out quite well in the end
Forgot to add alt text although because it’s a screenshot of text I hope screen readers can read it. But I should have added:
A cross word puzzle. The clue is “Patient’s share of the cost” and it’s a five letter word. I tried “None” but that’s just 4 letters.

What if the #rapture does happen tomorrow but no one notices because everyone is at least a little bit of a #sinner?
Why is it the Pacific Northwest? What other northwest could it be?
Beat all the kings in nine kings (but not nine kings because nine kings doesn’t have all nine kings yet ) on king difficulty. Pretty sweet game.

Can't recommend the print edition of The Onion enough...
What is the most readable programming language? (I have an opinion but I want to know what others think.) Not asking for favorite language, but easiest to read.

Oh yes as many physical buttons as possible.
One of my dreams is to start a company that makes really good appliances and home electronics that never connect to the internet. I’d start with a TV and then move on to washing machines and dishwashers etc. I’d call it something like dumbcorp or whatever.
I didn’t realize The GAP sold so many different qualities of Pizza.
July 27th is my birthday and this year I’m trying the fundraiser path, raising money for the BCSPCA. I will match whatever is raised (up to $2000). Facebook fundraiser but any mutual of mine that is not a fan of my employer can DM me a receipt and I’ll match that. www.facebook.com/donate/19549...
I hate when they won’t let people off in those cases. You got water at least?
I’m so excited that in 2026 all the Apple operating systems will look like Windows Vista. Oh how the turn tables.
The dream of every backend engineer must be something like working at the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency) where they have a 3 hour maintenance window EVERY DAY. www.canada.ca/en/revenue-a...
Slay the spire and monster train are on Apple Arcade.
Monster train 2 out in a month too (on steam at least).
I'm so sick of so called "Youtube Influencers" making tutorials as if they are experts in topics, case in point: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv5p...
A screenshot of cwebber saying she doesn’t know what a humor is.
But bluesky is decentralized! There is a thread here and on the fediverse (like bluesky but like email) where some new person asked for blogposts I’m sure you could find some info in those threads.
New indie game by an acquaintance of mine Lab Rats came out yesterday and it’s really good. Give it a try: store.steampowered.com/app/1304610/...
A colorful, cartoon-style used car dealership inspired by Sesame Street. The lot is decorated with bright streamers and balloons, and a cheerful sign reads “Sunny Street Used Cars.” Friendly puppet characters with big eyes and fuzzy textures are interacting with smiling cars that have animated faces. One puppet is dancing on top of a red car, while another holds balloons. The background features colorful buildings under a clear blue sky, creating a playful, family-friendly atmosphere
Facebook reminded me that my last GDC was 13 years ago :( I miss being a game developer so much. Hopefully one day I’ll get back to my real passion.
Don’t forget Canada!
Just to be clear, language and framing is really important,
BUT
EVEN IF someone I trust said “We don’t know why this is, but putting the word tomato at the beginning of every sentence seems to help reduce systemic racism”
I’d be like “Tomatofuckyes I’ll do it. Tomato tomato tomato.”
