You're very welcome!
Note that for some servers that use CDNs, eg Cloudflare,or Fastly, the location will not be accurate.
Still, gives you a general idea!

That's the sense I'm getting.
Since it's so easy to set up an independent fediverse server, people have been doing that all around the world.

Can't really find reliable data for Bluesky, but I've seen people making similar observations to yours.
If that sounds at all interesting to you, you can learn a bit more on jointhefediverse.net.
And Bridgy Fed is a service that bridges, as the name implies, fediverse and the Atmosphere so that people can follow each other. Following that account creates a "copy" of your account that lets people follow it and interact with you.
If you've heard of Mastodon, then that's just one of several platforms that make up the fediverse. The same way Bluesky is part of something called Atmosphere.
Definitely worth giving it another look every few months as things slowly continue to improve!
The user experience on Mastodon has been improving, with quote posts, and automatically loading of missing replies.
It can still be a bit fragmented, if you're on a smaller server, but here's one easy solution: bots that share trending posts across different communities.

And the edit button!
Yeah, Mastodon has improved a lot over the past year or two. There is definitely still work left, but things are getting better!
You're welcome! Good luck finding something that works better for you!
Ah, sorry, I don't think I'm going to be very helpful here.
The only alternative web clients I know are phanpy.social and elk.zone, not sure how those handle multi-column layout, or if they support it at all.
If you have the time/patience, you could check out codeberg.org/fediverse/de...?
Yeah, it can take a bit more work, for sure.
What are the biggest issues you're running into?
There are definitely still some UX deficiencies, and no crypto VC money to fund the work needed to fix them, so things move a bit slow.
But they are improving!
Things have definitely improved over the past year.
Better search is in the works (www.fediscovery.org), we now have quote posts, missing replies get loaded automatically.
And there are some great community tools in place of built-in algorithms, e.g. followgraph.vercel.app or whomtofollow.com.
@nora.zone This sounds like something you might like!
There's also this starter pack, which has a mix of official accounts and automated bots.

You can follow many official @flipboard.com accounts as they are now federating!

Obviously LLMs don't seem to have created a massive capacity to refactor and re-architect the system that would enable, eg, locked accounts. But also even trivial shit continues to languish. The Bluesky iOS app still renders letterboxed on ipads.
Maybe we SHOULD'VE all just gone to mastodon instead of this librarian tech bro project
An article from last year that celebrates the 40th anniversary of ".com".
"Four decades ago, the first domain was registered and the initial batch of top-level domains came to be. Nearly a billion domains have been registered since then."

Plus an edit button!
My condolences
This is how the Bluesky team is talking about its user base
Cool
"Almost a third of generation Z men and boys think a wife should obey her husband, according to a global survey of 23,000 people that found young men hold more traditional views about gender roles than older generations."
Dads, talk to your sons!

Well, in that case, thank you for serving the public on your birthday!
Happy birthday! Hope you have a great one!
I didn't have to use checks until I moved to the US ten years ago, and needed them to pay rent.
I think I just looked it up online to make sure I was doing it right.
the result of UBI is not a better society. It's a bunch of people barely surviving while corporations and the billionaire class consolidate their economic and political power, and workers lose any ability we might still have to resist their efforts to destroy us, our environment, etc.

Hi, would you maybe find this useful for inviting people over?

You can plug in your favorite server, even include recommended apps and starter packs.
