LOL. Seems like a tell on the mental state of the Anthropic CEO to be honest.

if you were to write a prophecy of the future back in 2000 that "in 2026, President Donald John Trump has launched a war on Iran with Israel after previously attempting a coup to stay in power in 2020", people would think you've gone insane

I think DOJ's new effort to insulate itself from state disciplinary investigation is A big deal, but not THE big deal.

Unpopular opinion: appropriate use of gen AI to generate first drafts from examples of my own prior writing is incredibly useful.

One worked for Nabisco his entire life from a delivery truck at 18 to regional manager by the time he retired. The other was a master electrician at Newport News Shipbuilding, and worked on the USS John F Kennedy and the SS United States, both derelict in Philadelphia until a couple years ago.

'UNIMAGINABLE CRUELTY': Judge Gary Brown, a Trump appointeee from NY, thrashes DHS' treatment of a man who came to the US at 9 as an abuse/neglect victim, has no criminal record and became a college grad.

This is the verification I needed. It is precious bodily fluids level batshitness. If it's actually happening as alleged it's close to a break the glass moment.

Gives the game away when defenders of Trump's regional war refer to the Constitution as a "moot point."

There are legit reasons to think the state trial court got this one wrong, so I can't get behind my normal suggestion.

But SCOTUS just (without explanation) stayed one particular order on one particular date. Nothing stops a trial judge on the receiving end of these from issuing another order.

It's a stay petition, not an appeal. Google it. Also Google "circuit justice" then come back and tell us what you've learned.

DOJ is dropping its appeals of losses in the law firm order cases. What does it mean? And: The Supreme Court heard arguments Monday over a federal law banning firearm possession by users of illegal drugs.

I have updated my report at Law Dork on DOJ dropping the law firm EO appeals.

If you've read about DOJ dropping those cases, but the story said nothing about DOJ's appeal of Mark Zaid's case against his security clearance revocation, you don't have the whole story.

Then make it even more transparent! But no matter what, stop pretending this has anything to do with law! That this is not an overt political issue in Presidential and Senatrorial politics is beyond me. (Not yelling at you, yelling into the void.)

Let them explain themselves. I admit I don't know the ins and outs of emergency SCOTUS procedure, but my understanding was that all 2nd Circuit stay petitions go through Sotomayor in the first instance.

My question is when are the liberal Justices who recieve these types of requests going to start denying them rather than referring them to the Court.

We should be clear what the Venezuela template looks like. It means that Iran can be ruled by whatever psychopath monster they like, that he can continue to slaughter Iranians in the street, but that Trump & Co get a taste of the oil revenue, paid into a private bank account in Qatar.

🧡 on Fetterman by someone who knows what he is talking about. He was the real deal for much of his career. For reasons I do not fully understand, he is a different person now. I do not regret my vote for him in 2022. But the Senator we have now is definitely not the person I voted for.

The constitutional remedy for a president who attempts to commit the United States to war without authorization from Congress is impeachment, removal, disqualification, and a criminal trial.
