Trump’s reckless war with Iran is going to raise prices across the board. And whether it’s at the pump or at the grocery store, YOU will be footing the bill.

Sen. Heinrich: Like my constituents, I cannot ignore Congressman Pearce’s record of calling for public lands sell-offs, which is why I am voting no on his nomination.

To no one’s surprise, Trump’s war is already proving to be expensive for working families.
A doughnut chart showing that clean energy dominates plans for U.S. power plants this year.
Trump manufactured an electricity affordability crisis and ironically, renewables and storage are the only antidote for his poison.
Sen. Gallego: I would like to know if you have any plans to roll back protections for the Grand Canyon?
Sen. Hickenlooper: I've said it multiple times, when someone reveals himself to you, believe them. And I think that there's a lot of distrust, and you're going to have to work very hard to dispel that.
Sen. King: Our public lands have tremendous energy potential, but the administration has made the decision that fossil fuel extraction on public lands is okay, but renewables, not so much.
Image of Donald Trump pointing to a headline with a cartoon bubble saying, "I did that!" Headline from AP reads: Average price for a gallon of gas rises 11 cents overnight to about $3.11 in US, AAA says.
Every taxpayer dollar that goes into funding the National Park Service puts $17 back into our economy.
Trump’s administration wants you to think that funding our parks is a waste, but remember: they also think every dollar spent helping working families is a waste.
The Trump administration just made ALL energy more expensive.
Renewables: Permitting bottlenecks
Gas: Unbridled exports
Oil: War in Iran
Coal: Mandated coal generation
Santa Fe New Mexican logo with headline: Heinrich to oppose Steve Pearce's nomination to lead Bureau of Land Management. By Alaina Mencinger
While Congressman Pearce has said that his past actions are in his rearview mirror, they remain in the memory of every New Mexican who faced his opposition in order to protect the lands they cherish.
I cannot ignore his record and I cannot vote to advance his nomination.
Sen. Padilla: The BLM manages nearly 15% of California’s land mass. It is critical that the BLM and the BLM Director maintain these lands for future generations and not just sell them to the highest bidder.
Sen. Wyden: It's pretty hard for us to be able, in the West, to trust someone who fundamentally doesn't believe that these public lands are important.
Consumer Energy's J.H. Campbell complex. Detroit Free Press headline: Trump admin. extends order for Michigan coal power plant to remain open
When Donald Trump forces zombie coal plants to stay open, he’s forcing customers to pay twice. Stealing money from hard working families isn’t “great” in my book.
A photo of Donald Trump at the State of the Union with a cartoon bubble and a quote: "When they see energy going down to numbers like that, they cannot believe it. It's like another big tax cut." Yellow and red type read "Fact Check: False." In 2025, Residential electricity prices increased by about 8% nationwide after Trump took office. According to a recent REPORT, electric and gas utilities requested close to $31 billion in rate increases in 2025, more than doubling the $15 billion in rate increases that were requested in 2024. These rate increase requests will impact 81 million Americans.
You deserve the truth.
Sen. Heinrich: Because of some of your previous writings and statements, there is a concern in the public and among New Mexicans that a sale of public lands on a broader scale might be part of the new BLM agenda. Can you speak to that and maybe allay some of those concerns?
Sen. Heinrich: On the future of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, I know there's a lot of water under the bridge on that issue between both of us, but what would you say to elected officials in Doña Ana County about your approach, with respect to the monument?
You won’t find cleaner waters than the Boundary Waters. Think endless streams of water filled with bass, walleye, trout and northern pike – total wilderness, only accessible by canoe.
Why would we let a Chilean mining company pollute these public lands, take our minerals and ship them off to China?
Cars line up at the entrance to Yosemite National Park in California during heavy snow as a winter storm warning is issued, shown on Feb. 17, 2026. Headline from SFGate reads: National parks remove reservation systems despite crowds
Reservation systems help parks manage visitation numbers and protect the parks’ ecosystems and wildlife from large crowds.
The Trump Administration is rolling back these systems, placing more strain on parks already struggling under Trump’s budget and staffing cuts.
Rising energy prices aren't inevitable. The Trump administration owns the increases in your electric bill.
Sen Heinrich: I don't know of anyone who supports your position. It literally has no community support. Do you listen to the community before you make a decision like that?
Trump is forcing dying coal plants to keep their lights on and you’ll end up paying twice.
Trump is killing the cheapest and fastest solution to our growing energy demand. That means higher electric bills for you.
Spiking energy costs force impossible choices. Every dollar saved on energy costs is a dollar that keeps food on the table, supports local businesses, saves for a child’s education, or invests in a home.
BREAKING: The U.S. Senate could vote as soon as next week to strip vital protections from the headwaters of the Boundary Waters, one of the nation’s largest and most visited wilderness areas.

Working families were promised relief. Instead, they’re getting higher bills. Trump said he’d cut electricity prices in half, but prices are up 13% nationwide since he took office.

We can make energy affordable and create good-paying, union jobs in the process.
This is not a time to retreat as we work to reduce electricity costs. Families deserve to be warm in the winter without being afraid of their electric bills. Every household, not just the wealthiest, deserves affordable energy and efficiency resources.
Another illegal stop work order overturned. It was never about national security. It’s all about Trump’s war on cheap, clean power.
