In the midst of packing and moving houses -- to a home that is closer to campus. Say yes to a 5 minute commute and potentially biking once the weather is right. That said, I'm cognitively off due to stress. Not finding my words from time to time. I'll be happy when this move is done.
It would appear I am now a columnist at Inside Higher Ed. My first piece focuses on McCarthyism, censorship, and our current moment in higher education. This is an essay I started nearly 6 months ago so I'm glad to finally share it with y'all.

These fucking politicians need to STOP CONSTANTLY admonishing protestors to be "peaceful" while they are being brutalized regularly by the gatekeepers of the state. You should be up there telling ICE and Border Patrol to be fucking peaceful.
A 35 year old letter to the editor, written by a very ballsy 15 year old, about the Rodney King verdict.
Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, itโs probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, Iโm sorry and also welcome.
Friends, I was stuck in Puerto Rico for an extra day due to USAโs military actions in Venezuela. I am against what happened there. It was an act of war without Congressional approval. It was harmful to civilians. My travel situation is pretty annoying, too, but I am safe.
Snow on the ground. A tree covered with lights, lit up at night.
Went to Longwood Gardens last night. It was lovely to see it lit up with snow on the ground.
I fully unsubscribed to Netflix but none of these subscriptions feel ethical at this point.
This is exactly why utilities are increasing for residents in Delaware.

This week is the ๐ก Reassessment Carnival ๐ก in my classes, where students optionally retake any assessment to update me one last time with a demonstration of what they know. It's an exciting and stressful and satisfying week full of celebration for students' accomplishments and also a TON of grading.
Worth waiting a year for Part 2! Such a gorgeous film - Wicked: For Good!

There is a robust conversation already about supporting students digital literacy abilities.
This is good & necessary & (from what I can see) happening.
I would offer that there is an equally compelling case for the need to practice perspective taking.
I wish this was more supported.
