Pace of global warming has nearly doubled since 2015, reveals study - Carbon Brief
An acceleration in human-caused global warming could see the Paris Agreement’s 1.5C limit breached before...
I'm not suggesting this is an open secret within the climate science community, but it's remarkable how little impact this sort of research is generating. Because if the rate of warming really has *doubled* then you can kiss goodbye to 2°C. www.carbonbrief.org/pace-of-glob...

No I’m just trying to upgrade to fibre because they’re switching off copper and now I have a fibre connection which apparently connects to nothing and a copper line which is already faster than a human needs

I currently have 312 open tabs on one of my browsers.
I know this because I’m trying to fix my internet and I just saw them all striving to reload.

That’s not really true. Some did, others did not. But the ones who did not were - to my eye - quite deliberately sidelined. Though Heseltine, in age, has become pleasingly furious.

Pretty obvious for a while now they fossil fuels were an alarming pinch point. Though renewables come with their own geopolitical issues! But yeah, seems like there’s a solid case for de-carbonising just on grounds of security.

“Abd” is autocorrect’s new thing for me. I’m not sure if it’s actually correcting to “abd” from “and” or just ignoring it, but it’s in about 50% of my text communication at the moment. Sorry about that.

"The day before I went into hospital, I wrote out a document for my wife, detailing life insurance policies, bank passwords, that sort of thing, and ending with “bins go out Thursday”.

You’re quite right about Pinochet, of course - though that was a surprisingly broad malady. All sorts of people who should have known better backed him.

Mrs H ran a formidable human rights legal outfit in the war on terror era, and some of the most effective allies were backbench Tories. Almost all promoted out of the Commons or kicked out under Johnson.

It was, notionally, Churchillian. Mind you, Labour were in power back then, and trying to bring torture evidence before British courts.

I remember when the Right was all about the Rule of Law. It was their proudest boast and arguably their most admirable posture. No impunity for tyrants, no war crimes, no circumvention of the rights of the individual.

Trump’s War With Iran Is Also a Climate War
Fossil fuels are structurally embedded in modern warfare.
"Journalists cannot fully and fairly cover a war this carbon-intensive, destabilizing, and consequential if its climate dimensions are treated as optional add-ons rather than as core fact. " newrepublic.com/article/2073...

I suppose it depends on how much good you think it does talking to their audience with their framing. You could write back and ask whether they’re going to have a discussion or muck about.
