That’s not really true. Some did, others did not. But the ones who did not were - to my eye - quite deliberately sidelined. Though Heseltine, in age, has become pleasingly furious.

Pretty obvious for a while now they fossil fuels were an alarming pinch point. Though renewables come with their own geopolitical issues! But yeah, seems like there’s a solid case for de-carbonising just on grounds of security.

I remember when the Right was all about the Rule of Law. It was their proudest boast and arguably their most admirable posture. No impunity for tyrants, no war crimes, no circumvention of the rights of the individual.
