The European Dream(s): Defending Core Values Under Pressure | Panel Discussion
YouTube video by Munich Security Conference
This is pretty weird - somehow German Greens (Franziska Brantner) & British Tories (Priti Patel) are now more aligned on European values than with the US.
I'd like to thank the current US adminstration for doing more for European unity than anyone since Napoleon.

All this Star Trek "discourse" makes me want to get my sci-fi magazines from the 90s out of storage because haters have been complaining about the same tired things for 30+ years. Grow a personality.

Star Trek has changed over the years. The Star Trek that was made in the 60s and the Star Trek being made in the 2020s are very different beast, presented and constructed differently.
I believe that the core message is the same, even if it looks different. I like that it grows

I was told that my reviews are no longer valid because 'I put my stamp of approval' on Starfleet Academy.
We must always make up our own minds about what we enjoy, and what we choose to spend our time watching.
Don't let me, or anyone, decide what you enjoy, or don't.
You are unique :) xx

You realise it is three years to the day that Brianna Ghey was murdered.
An innocent young girl killed because of transphobia and hate. What's changed in the three years since? Transphobes have upped their attacks. The government has increased discrimination.
It doesn't have to be like this.

🚨Do. not. use. individual's. actions to. attack. whole. groups.🚨
Not unless you want to take the blame for every person in your social demographic.
Bad people exist in every group. That's not an excuse to use the actions of individuals to target those groups, particularly already marginalised groups

You can't always help who know socially - I've got a photo of an ~8yr old Rishi Sunak at my ~6th birthday, with him, me & his younger brother in McDonald's hats somewhere. My claim to fame!
(Not satire or a joke - I still know his parents too, they're lovely).

Labour's problem, you know aside from how bad Starmer is as PM, ties to Mandelson, links to a think tank trying to blackmail journalists, repeated scandals over various MPs, including Ministers, spending, taxes etc...actually this could be quite a long "aside list", so let's move on to the point. 1/

Very much the same - I like when Parliament asserts it's authority. It shows that MPs still have institutional pride as Parliamentarians over complete partisanship.

The hill I will die on: Britons love saying thank you – I think we should ban the phrase | Sangeeta Pillai
Really, what is the point of this endless conversational back and forth? Step out of the loop, and change your life, says author Sangeeta Pillai
This is just rude from @soulsutras.bsky.social - the Hill I'll die on is that I much prefer the British culture of thanking everyone for literally everything than the Indian one of almost never saying it to anyone. Take away my OCI card if you have to.
