This is genuinely pathetic by Telegraph - and really exposes their rabid obsession with net-zero.

When you read this article, this is the only passing reference to net-zero:

"a trustee of the Climate Group, a charity that aims for a net-zero world by 2050, from 2010 until 2016"

Global warming is now speeding up. Quite a lot, as it happens.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes more sense!

That isn't the Strait of Hormuz.

What this shows is the much narrower channel between the Iranian island of Qeshm and the Iranian mainland, on the northern edge of the Strait itself.

Indeed. I didn't know the navigability in that part was so challenging. The deep water channel is so narrow

Fantastic topographical photo of the Strait of Hormuz.

Really shows just how tight and vulnerable it is for shipping.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet.

Energy independence is consistently one of the most powerful pro-Net Zero arguments among voters.

They back renewables over fossil fuel as the solution and it's not particularly close.

Bit baffled that Govt is not hammering this more loudly in light of Iran. Pushing at an open door.

Your regular reminder that the UK's North Sea gas production is down by two-thirds since 2000 and is set to drop by another 97% by 2050 – even with new licensing rounds it would fall by 95%

Anyone know why BBC News is still formally tied with CBS News, given the Bari Weiss/Ellison/Paramount take over?

Since 2017, the two orgs have had a formal deal to "share video, editorial content, and additional newsgathering resources".

That seems pretty inappropriate now?

yes, it's terrifying - but also strongly suggests that this frontline won't be moving much in the future if such tactics remain

I recently watched the incredible '2,000 Meters to Andriivka' documentary, which was filmed with GoPros on Ukrainian frontline in 2023.

This excellent new FT article really shows just how far drone-warfare has come in that short time.

NEW - I sat down with Ma Jun, one of China's most well-known environmentalists, in Belem to discuss the country's energy transition

We talked about using data to accelerate climate action, EU-China cooperation, the future of coal and the role of civil society in China's climate policy

"If you don’t have a stick, you can never make the carrot big enough."

I once traveled across China on a reporting trip with Ma Jun. Great guy, deeply thoughtful about the forces at work in China's complicated moves to clean energy and climate leadership.

This is how the Cure's Robert Smith imagined life to be in the mid-2020s - when he was asked by Smash Hits magazine in 1983...
