It's amazing how that Apple tagline has been drifting away from actual Mac and iOS devices ever since Jobs died.

I think it's pretty important to understand that algorithmically-run platforms have long understood anger and argument drives much more engagement than just showing you stuff you like, and if you find yourself being made to despair at what a platform shows you, that is the system working as intended

Most mobile games now rest in the awkward space of "not gambling enough" than polymarket/kalshi and "not low effort dopamine enough" than TikTok.
Roblox is eating their lunch solely because it's on the age ghetto and kids will "graduate" to social networks and gambling, not mobile gachas.
It's so easy to just say stuff like that when you haven't done the work...
I've done at least 5 fighting games that have no combo mechanics and be more decently successful than a lot of indies. But since they are, oversimplifying, "spicy divekick" they barely register to the staunch FGC fans.

i ended up chatting with a dev about how she approached her narrative game as someone without a traditional writing background and her answer really helped unlock something in my brain
